Forward in Faith is not about just buildings, but about what occurs within them. Houston Christian is creating a faithful group of young adults who
excel in academics, athletics, fine arts and their spiritual life. They will leave Houston Christian knowing what it means to lead, leaving a lasting
impact on every life they touch.
We know you are asked to give often and to many worthwhile causes. We hope that you will put Houston Christian at the top of that list. Financial
gifts from families, grandparents, alumni and friends are critical to the success of this campaign. Your investment will not only benefit those who
are here now, but it will leave a legacy for those who will follow.
Join us now by prayerfully making a pledge over three years that will help make Houston Christian the best it can be. Every gift counts!

YOUR CHARITABLE INVESTMENT WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
Dear Families and Friends of Houston Christian High School,
In March 2011, our Board of Trustees voted to enter into a fundraising campaign to
continue the vision of the school’s founders, who prayed from the beginning that HC
would serve 500 students. As we enter into the next phase of Houston Christian’s
development and seek to expand our presence among the nation’s fi nest high schools, we are
moving forward in faith with a bold vision to provide an exemplary, well-rounded Christian
college preparatory education for our students.
Enrollment exceeded 500 for the fi rst time in fall of 2011. This is a blessing and a
testament to the satisfaction of students and parents, but has created an immediate and
critical need for new facilities. The 35,000 square foot Student Center will provide
appropriate facilities for food service and dining, eight more classrooms, an enlarged
and synergistic Discovery suite, and a state-of-the-art learning commons with areas for
collaborative learning, integrated technology, research and library services and meeting
spaces designed for comfortable student interaction.
Additionally, the Center for Scholars and Leaders provides dedicated space for
the Passport to Lead and Distinguished Scholars programs. Transforming the library
into a multi-functional center with 145-seat lecture hall, two conference-style class-
rooms and break-out areas with AV integration and furniture promotes creativity and col-
laboration. The Center for Scholars and Leaders will also be used for student and parent
meetings and made available for public use after-hours as an outreach to the greater Houston
community.
This year, we are conducting the Many Gifts, One Vision Annual Fund alongside the
Forward in Faith Capital Campaign. By sharing our vision, we invite you to be a part
of the Forward in Faith campaign as well as the Annual Fund, which provides for the
operational needs of the school. Your donations are investments in the lives of HC
students and families.
Throughout the years, God has brought forth people and fi nancial resources at just the
right time. Everything we enjoy at HC is the result of generous gifts from those who came
before us. It is my hope that you will leave your legacy and provide for those who will
follow. Your gift reflects your belief in Houston Christian’s mission and your
commitment to the goals and values that Houston Christian represents.
I am grateful to Co-chairs Cindy and Jeff Reeter and Lynne and Jeff Voncannon, and
the committee members for their leadership. Your participation and prayers will make
a difference! Thank you on behalf of all the current and future students of Houston
Christian High School .
Blessings,
Stephen M. Livingston, Ed.D.Stephen M. Livingston, Ed.D.
NOW IS THE TIME TO MOVE FORWARD IN FAITH
In 1997, our founders put forth a vision of a high school that would inspire leaders
with a mind toward Christ. Just fourteen years later, Houston Christian stands strong
as a premier high school in Houston. We are a place that challenges the intellect
within the framework of a Christian world view and encourages students to develop
their distinctive gifts in the areas of academics, athletics, spirituality, leadership, and
the visual and performing arts.
Having achieved our founders’ goal of 500 students, our enrollment demands that
we move our campus master plan another step forward. This calls for construction of
a new student center and a Center for Scholars and Leaders. These two buildings
will provide space for collaborative learning and address immediate needs for
additional classrooms, food service and dining. The plan also calls for facility
enhancements for athletics and the performing arts.
The Forward in Faith Campaign seeks to raise $12.5 million to make these plans a
reality. The completion of these buildings will put Houston Christian at the forefront
of learning and technology and further expose our students to an exceptional
educational environment that will boldly prepare them for their future pursuits.
Our journey continues. Please join us as we move Forward in Faith and invest in
the future of our children and prepare them to impact this world through
leadership and faith.

STUDENT CENTER
A three-story, approximately 35,000 square foot student center will be a powerful force for student interaction by effectively integrating library services, technology, cafeteria and classrooms in a learning commons that is now only seen at colleges and universities. The center will:
• Convert the traditional library into a learning commons with a technologically progressive hub.
• Provide an informal gathering area with coffee bar for the school community and seating for 120.
• Accommodate a food preparation/service area and cafeteria seating for approximately 170 students.
• Connect to the McNair Gymnasium providing direct access to restrooms.
• Create eight additional classrooms and a custom designed six-room Discovery program suite.
PERFORMING ARTS
An important aspect of the project is to repurpose the classrooms in the Drake Performing Arts Center (DPAC). Classes currently held in the DPAC, which are not fine arts, will move to the second floor of the student center. As a result, these classrooms will be re-modeled to provide:
• Individual practice rooms
• Men’s and ladies’ dressing rooms for theatre
• Small group rehearsal rooms
• Music classroom
• Video and Audio recording studio
• Offices

CAPITAL FUNDING HIGHLIGHTS
The objectives for a capital campaign address immediate and critical needs for classroom space, facilities for food service, athletics and performing arts, and areas for collaborative learning with state-of-the-art technology.
• Construct a student center with dining facilities, classrooms, and a learning commons integrating library services and technology.
• Transform the existing Amelang Library into a state-of-the-art center with lecture hall and collaborative conference areas for Passport to Lead and Distinguished Scholars Programs.
• Complete the Drake Performing Arts center by renovating current classrooms into practice rooms, an audio-video recording studio, dressing rooms, and rehearsal space.
CENTER FOR SCHOLARS AND LEADERS
By transferring library services into the new student center learning commons, the Amelang Library building is now the Center for Scholars and Leaders which includes:
• A grand lecture hall with seating for approximately 145 students.
• Two conference-style classrooms.
• Facilities to house the Distinguished Scholars and Passport to Lead programs.
• Break-out areas with functional architecture, AV integration and furniture that promote creativity and collaboration.
• To fulfill the vision of servant-leadership training and community impact, the Center for Scholars and Leaders is also available for use by the public for after-hours.
We have other buildings and capital projects that are not a part of this campaign. If you are interested in fully funding one of those needs, please contact the Head of School or Director for Development.
