After this chapter, students are expected to be able to:- Introduce themselves appropriately,- Greet people nicely using many greeting expressions,- Know how to respond kindly if someone greets,- Know how to introduce someone to other people,- Make a small talk during the brief conversation

Introduction of oneself is practically mandatory for a person when he/she meet someone new, or he/she has never met before.- Is it important?- Very.

Example of formal greeting/introduction:

- If I may introduce myself- Good morning/afternoon/night- Hello, my name is nice to meet you- Please allow me to introduce myself- and many other more

Example of informal greeting/introduction:

- Hi!- Howdy!- Long time no see!- Hey, how do you do?- Its been a while, eh?- and many other else

The appropriate response for greetings/introductions:- Im great, thank you- Yes, good day to you too- Wow, it really has been a while- Im fine, how about you?- Nice to meet you- Etc.Introducing other people

Not only you have to be able to introduce yourself, you must also capable to introduce your friend to other people. Introducing other people to other people have a different pattern from introducing your own self. You act like a bridge, or as Nokias motto: connecting people.

Expressions used when introducing a friend to your other friend:Hey, Id like you to meet my friendThere is someone Id like you to meetYou two should know each other,Hey, here is my friend, have you two met?

Can you find other example?Based on your attitude and way of introducing yourself, people can either consider you a nice, polite, and well-mannered person, or they can also judge you as rude, impolite, and uncivilized. So, choose wisely!

1. Introduce yourself in front of the class using given expressions,2. Respond to greetings given by one of your friends,3. Introduce one of your friend to the whole class.

Good luck!
