Dear Parents and Carers, We have all enjoyed a full and varied fortnight leading up to half term. With the sunshine making an appearance and the days getting longer, students have experienced some wonderful opportunities both inside the classroom and out. Our MFL students enjoyed a trip to Valencia, rich in art and culture; they fully immersed themselves in the Spanish life, broadening their understanding of the language they learn in lesson. We have been very fortunate to welcome two incredible and diverse professionals into the academy this fortnight, who both offered extremely inspiring Working Lunches to our keen students. Mr
Mansoor, a surgeon, discussed routes into medicine, whilst Miss Playton demonstrated ways of getting into the fashion industry. This week saw the launch of the Options process for our Year 8 students, when we welcomed families into the academy for an evening dedicated to this - we really hope all who attended found the evening beneficial. Mr Duncan and Mrs Rowe are hosting drop-in sessions on Wednesday, 27th March, for any parents and carers who were unable to attend the evening, or have any further questions they would like to discuss.
Our Year 11 catering students and Miss Long have had an extremely busy week, making the most incredible edible creations as part of their exam pieces - you can see a selection of images in this edition. We really cannot be more proud of these students. I would like to congratulate all students, on behalf of us all at the academy, for everything they have achieved this half term. For being in lessons on time, in the correct uniform and with the correct equipment. For being respectful of each other, of our building and of every member of staff at the academy. To all of the students who have worked hard, both inside school and outside, for the Visa Points achieved and for the medals won. I wish you and your families a peaceful and happy half term break.
