Justin Lopez put Fort Wayne on the board with a two-run triple in the first. Beloit got an unearned run off Osvaldo Hernandez in the third. Hernandez finished with 6 innings and only that 1 run allowed (6 Ks, 0 BB). The Snappers tied the game with 2 outs in the ninth. But in the 10th, after blanking Beloit in the top half, Tre Carter drove in Jalen Washington on a fielder’s choice grounder to first. MR. 3,000: Former Peoria Chief Albert Pujols is sitting on 2,999 career hits in the majors. Pujols played in the Midwest League in 2000 and played at Memorial Stadium against the Fort Wayne Wizards in 3 games on May 22, 24, and 25. The 20-year-old at the time went 4-for-10 with 2 RBIs. The auction will run through the 6th inning. All proceeds from the auction will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation. NEW JERSEYS: While the TinCaps are wearing Star Wars-themed jerseys tonight, they debuted two other looks already this week. On Thursday, the ‘Caps unveiled new green jerseys that they’ll wear throughout the season for home Thursday games. The “hometown pride” jerseys read “The Fort” across the chest. For the first time since moving into Parkview Field in 2009 and rebranding from the Wizards to the TinCaps, the team also has a new home-white look, sans pinstripes, and a new white-front hat. Both new jerseys are available at The Orchard Team Store and online. LOPEZ LIGHTS IT UP: Over the last 2 days, Justin Lopez, the 17-year-old who’s the youngest player in the MWL, went 5-for-9 with a single, 2 doubles, a triple, and a homer. STREAKING: Catcher Juan Fernandez is on a 16-game on-base streak. His 12-game hitting streak ended Sunday. Fernandez has reached base in every game he’s had a plate appearance. He’s hit safely in all but 2. His on-base streak is tied for 7th longest in the MWL so far this year while his hitting streak ranks 4th longest.
