Real life situation (RLS) A RLS can be any specific situation that has made you think about knowing or knowledge.

The situation can be relevant to your local community or your school or relevant nationally or internationally.

It can also be based on a subject-specific issue.

Knowledge questions then emerge as individuals move, in their thinking, from specific, subject-centered questions to more general questions about knowledge itself and how it is acquired

KQ – To what extent is what we know in two areas of knowledge shaped by our culture and education?

1. Knowledge questions are rigorous inquiry questions about knowledge. Instead of focusing on specific content, they focus on how knowledge is constructed and evaluated.

2. Knowledge questions are open in the sense that there are a number of plausible answers to them.The questions are contestable.A good quality Knowledge Question will always merit discussion and evaluation rather than a single, definitive response.

3. Knowledge questions are general in the sense that they should not be making subject specific claims.

A good KQ will -Start with -“to what extent…..”, -“ How far…..”-“How…..”-“What role does….”-“Under what circumstance…….”-Open-General -Couched in terms of relations between concepts from AOK, WOK and belief, certainty, culture, evidence, experience, explanation, interpretation, intuition, justification, truth, values etc
