Scott was born in California and raised in Hawaii before moving eastward to the
Sunshine State. He attended the University of Central Florida and graduated with a
Bachelor of Science degree in Legal Studies and Social and Behavioral Sciences.
After a brief but successful career in the hotel and lodging management industry, Scott
obtained his Juris Doctorate from the Florida A&M College of Law in 2013.
Scott began his career representing small and mid-sized businesses in a broad
assortment of corporate and transactional practice, including such wide-ranging
topics as trademark appeals, lease-to-sale agreements, and anti-money laundering
compliance. Although he quickly transitioned into civil litigation as the primary focus
of his work, Scott still maintains relationships with his previous business clients. In
particular, he still serves as general counsel to an Orlando-based craft homebrewing
manufacturer that has, with his guidance, executed and renewed purchase agreements
with several nationally-recognized retail outlets. Having worked with many different
business owners, however, Scott recognizes the importance of building relationships
in the practice of law, and has always brought a similar mindset to his civil defense
litigation practice.
In that regard, Scott has a variety of civil litigation experience focused primarily on
insurance defense. He has worked closely with many of the industry’s largest private
insurers, as well as a number of companies who are self-insured and the third-party
administrators who manage claims for those organizations. As a civil defense
attorney, Scott has litigated a diverse spectrum of cases, including auto, premises, and
products liability, construction defect, negligent security, general liability, subrogation,
wage claims, pregnancy and sexual discrimination, and PIP and first-party work.
Scott is licensed to practice in all Florida state courts. Outside of work, he regularly
volunteers as a Judge in various regional moot court and mock trial competitions, and
has been invited to guest lecture at his alma mater regarding business law matters.
