Letter from the Co-ChairsAs we move forward, we find opportunities for growth far beyond our initial vision for Forever Young Foundation. We continue to be blessed by the great work Forever Young and its "Family of Charities" are achieving. With the support of our generous partners, we are committed to assist and create increased opportunities for children residing in underserved communities.

Our NFL Forever Young Zones are thriving as they evolve into computer media rooms, where children's imagination and play work hand in hand with job training exercises on state-of-the-art technological equipment. As we create and develop the new hospital Zones, we are expanding existing Zones to provide parents outdoor refuge to share time with their children, complementing our indoor play areas that are used endlessly by the children who desperately need a place to forget their illnesses and day to day treatments.

We look to partner with many corporate and private patrons to develop programs that touch and enhance children’s lives here and around the world. With our momentum growing, we look to the future with much anticipation, confident we will make even more progress serving organizations that are passionate in their work as child advocates.

Forever Young FoundationFounded in 1993 by NFL Hall of Famer and Super Bowl MVP Steve Young, Forever Young Foundation is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization that serves children facing significant physical, emotional, and financial challenges. Funds raised further our efforts to provide academic, athletic, and therapeutic opportunities currently unavailable to these children. Forever Young Foundation has determined the best way to accomplish our mission is through the development and support of charitable organizations with a proven track record in delivering services.

Forever Young Foundation primarily focuses our efforts in Northern California, Arizona, and Utah, but we have also joined the NFL in their nationwide project developing Youth Education Towns (YET). The Foundation’s development efforts include the creation of Forever Young Zones®, which include technology labs in YET Centers and state of the art interactive play areas in children’s hospitals.

The Taylor Family Foundation

The Taylor Family Foundation (TTFF) has been committed to enhancing the quality of life for children in Northern California suffering from life-threatening illnesses and disabilities. Now in its second decade ofoperations, TTFF has helped over 12,000 children living with a variety of skin and heart diseases, Crohn’s, colitis, diabetes, autism, HIV/AIDS and other life-threatening illnesses. TTFF provides these children the opportunity to attend summer camp at Camp Arroyo, an experience most often denied them due to the physical restrictions of their illness or the financial limitations of their burdened families. By opening its doors to groups serving children with different ailments instead of focusing exclusively on a single illness, Camp Arroyo is able to enrich the lives of far more children. www.ttff.org

EB Medical Research Foundation

The EB Medical Research Foundation is a nonprofit, sole purpose foundation dedicated to the support of medical research of epidermolysis bullosa (EB) -- its causes, its cure, and the development of successful treatments. EB is a group of diseases characterized by blister formations after minor injury to the skin. This family of disorders, most of which are inherited, range in degrees of severity from mild to severely disabling and life-threatening. The EB Medical Research Foundation was established in 1991 by Gary and Lynn Fechser Anderson at the request of Dr. Eugene A. Bauer, then Professor and Chairman of the Depart-ment of Dermatology, Stanford School of Medicine. The Andersons have lost two children, Chuck and Christine, to epidermolysis bullosa. ebkids.org

Forever Young Zones

Technology Forever Young Zones are interactive education rooms created to provide children in underserved communities with access to state-of-the-art technology as well as web based education and training. These are attractive facilities that act as a safe haven for children to gather after school rather than on the streets. Forever Young Zones not only provide immediate help to underprivileged children resulting in better grades and increased learning opportunities, but afford them the skills that will prepare them for the future. Hospital Forever Young Zones are recreational therapy rooms created to provide tools for exercising the imagination of seriously ill children who face emotional and physical challenges. Forever Young Foundation has completed two of these Zones, one at Primary Children’s Medical Center and the other at Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital. It has been found that child life specialists and psychosocial professionals are more effective in helping children cope in treatment rooms if they have related to them first in these Forever Young Zone playrooms. These Zones provide a sanctuary or safe place where staff can build supportive relationships with the children and teens to help them in their recovery process.

McKenzie Monks Foundation

The McKenzie Monks Foundation was established in memory of a beloved four year-old girl who lost her battle to a ruthless kidney cancer. The Foundation's purpose is reaching out to children in McKenzie's name and spirit to help them endure the difficult challenges of battling cancer, just as McKenzie did. The Foundation has established a program know as the "Kenzie Kase" project. Each child is given a wheeled suitcase, (valued at $400-$500) filled with a 8-inch portable DVD player, cuddle blankets, arts, crafts, movies, toys, games and other items of entertainment and comfort to help them deal with the long hours associated with cancer treatment. Another focus of this foundation is to establish toy rooms in hospital and oncology clinics to help children pass time and be entertained while being away from home.

Treehouse Children’s Museum

Treehouse Museum seeks to be the magical place where children "Step into a Story". Treehouse serves children and families by providing interactive, hands-on exhibits and programs focusing on family literacy, children's literature, the arts, and the humanities. Exhibits invite children and parents to step physically into the world of stories and books thus creating engaging, relevant to curriculum field trips for local schools. Recognizing that there are many kinds of literacy - from geographic to computer - this exciting place provides our children a variety of ways to respond to stories, including music, theater and imaginative play. Its interactive exhibits and programs promote the development and practice of vital emerging literacy and reading skills. treehousemuseum.org

Wasatch Adaptive Sports

Wasatch Adaptive Sports is premier ski and summer program for children with special needs. Wasatch Adaptive Sports offers ski lessons, snowshoe tours, and sledge hockey throughout the winter, and numerous outdoor recreational activities such as hiking on barrier free trails, fishing, biking, tram rides, and environmental awareness programs in the summer. This program partners with many schools, therapeutic recreation centers, children’s hospitals and rehabilitation centers throughout the state to provide much needed ski lessons and other outdoor recreational experiences. With the aid of the Forever Young Foundation, the Wasatch Adaptive Sports program gave 1,500 lessons to special needs children in both the summer and winter. Participation this fiscal year increased by approximately 15% for the winter months and 20% for the summer months, a great boost to the program. At least 90-95% of the lessons provided by Wasatch Adaptive Sports are on either full or partial scholarship. School groups and privates lessons are held during the week in the winter season with many private lessons and hospital groups on Saturdays. wasatchadaptivesports.org
