Forest School at St Josephs is used as a tool to deliver and enhance learning across the curiculum.

We love to learn through play and exploration at Forest schools. Learning is fun, creative, relaxed and at the pace of individual learners in the

fantastic Wildlife and Nature walk areas at St Josephs.

All learners are encouraged to be Nature Detectives. Our Outdoor Eco School bags contains equipments such as lenses, pots, nets, binoculars

and more which help us engage better with nature. We love to make homes for our little wildlife friends and have a number of bird boxes,

hedgehog houses, bug hotels and a pond on our school compound.

We splash, we splish and we splosh! We search, investigate and ask lots of questions. We get excited with new findings, and best of all enjoy

nature!

Armed with tips from staff. Class teams are happy to head out with equipment for pond dipping and end up discovering a whole new world.

We are allowed to get muddy or not, depending on the preference of individual learners. Staff love to join in too.

We have helped to build a frogtopus Outdoor Cob Oven which is helping us to learn more about outdoor cooking. The Pizzas from our oven are

exceptionally delicious.

We enjoy sensory stories in our willow classroom as we wait for our food to cook

Sensory needs are also addressed in Forest School through musical activities like gum boot dancing, face painting by therapists and sculpturing

by experts.
