Forest Practices Authority Website Photography Competition 2019

Who can enter? Anyone can enter.

What kinds of photos can I enter? Photos will be judged in three categories:

1. forests and trees (including aspects of biodiversity);

2. forest management including silviculture, roads, management of soil and water, rehabilitation – these photos can include people and machinery;

3. people working on forest practices in the forest or office including machinery, portraits (pictures that illustrate what people do and who they are) - note that hi-vis gear and helmets are not a requirement for the photos.

We are particularly looking for landscape ratio photos or photos that would have a portion that could work as a landscape photo. You can enter as many photos as you like.

What format should the photos be in?The photos must be in electronic format. Large JPEGs are preferred (minimum 1600 pixel width and preferably 300dpi resolution) however we can accept most image formats. Email Chris Grove if you are unsure.

How do I enter my photos? Fill in this form and email it to Chris Grove, attaching the electronic image(s). Each email and its attachments must be less than 20 MB in total size, and you can send multiple emails if you need to. Alternatively you can share your photos with us using your Dropbox or Google Drive account – just email us the details. Entries must be received by close of business on Wednesday 31 July 2019. If you do not have internet access, please call the FPA on 6165 4090.

What are the conditions of entering the competition? Entry is free, but the FPA may use your photo in future publications. If we do use your photo, you will be acknowledged.

What are the prizes? The winner in each category will receive a copy of Rowan Reid’s book Heartwood. The best photos will be used on the new FPA website and other FPA publications, with acknowledgement.

Who will judge the competition? The photos will be judged by a panel including FPA staff members and external judges. To ensure impartiality, the judges will not know who took the photos.
