Dr Gustav Lindstrom Dr Lindstrom is the Head of the Emerging Security Challenges Programme at the GCSP. He currently represents the GCSP on the Executive Academic Board of the European Security and Defence College and serves as the co-chair of the PfP-C Emerging Security Challenges Working Group. Dr Christina Schori Liang Dr Schori Liang is a Programme Advisor and Senior Fellow at the Emerging Security Challenges Programme at the GCSP. Why you should attend

In today’s fast paced world, policymakers are increasingly aware of foresight as a tool to gauge policy responses. This course provides an opportunity to learn the basics of foresight and how it can be applied. During the course, participants will also examine emerging security challenges and their potential implications – allowing you to combine theory and practice.

Course Focus

Foresight tools • Overview of foresight methodologies (ie. scenario planning, assumption based planning, Delphi method, horizon scanning) • Qualitative and quantitative foresight

Course design

Substantive inputs are followed by group work applied to different case studies of emerging strategic issues. The group work provides valuable learning opportunities through exchanges between the experienced professionals represented by the participants and the teaching staff, who serve as mentors.
