Welcome!
Fordham Futures is a career planning and professional development program focused on awareness, preparation, and presentation. The Fordham Futures model challenges students to embrace the world with a restless curiosity in their everyday life, with an understanding of how professional experiences play an important roll in their development as professionals, and as members of society. Fordham Futures sits at the crossroads of academic learning and professional life where every student’s education is anchored in a core curriculum that inspires and celebrates the liberal arts principles of listening, thinking, speaking, writing, reading, reflecting, measuring, calculating, estimating, and dreaming. The Jesuit educational philosophy believes in putting knowledge to work. Students are challenged to balance their subjective classroom experience with the dynamic, objective realities of the world around them. Globalization, technological innovation, regulatory restructuring, intergenerational demographic shifts, and environmental pressures all serve as constant catalysts in the reinvention of the world of work facing Fordham students. Fordham is not an ivory tower suspended above the world but rather, a community forming leaders and citizens in the midst of the energy and hope that defines New York City. They become men and women of competence, conscience, and commitment in the world’s capital of business and finance, communications and the arts, science, scholarship and medicine, and law and international politics. Something remarkable happens when you put a Jesuit university into the heart of New York City. This marriage enables Fordham students to live integrated, purposeful lives bringing together education, experience, faith and reason.

Events On Campus
Tabling
Information Sessions Information Sessions are typically offered in the evenings, after students finish classes and are a great
way to give students more information about internship programs, company structure, and continue to
build relationships and connections with future employees. Students respond most enthusiastically to
events where they learn a marketable skill or gain valuable insights on their industry of choice, therefor
we have found that successful presentations have a strong education component. In order to request an
information session, log in to CareerLink and select “Request a Career Discovery Event” from the
shortcuts menu on the right.
We offer tabling opportunities in the heavily trafficked lobby of the McGinley Center. Tabling is a great way
to build presence and establish a strong brand on campus. Tabling during high traffic times is the best way to
let students know who you are. Be sure to bring handouts or giveaways, and remind student your next
Information Session, Career Fair or OCR day on campus will be.
Request on-campus
events through
CareerLink
Events on campus are by no means limited to info sessions and tabling. We work with employers to
coordinate panels, office hours, large-scale firm-wide events, office visits, ice cream giveaways, food
trucks and more. We are welcome new ideas and initiatives and would love to work with you on yours.
Contact Jeremy Cooper, for more information ([email protected]) or schedule today though
CareerLink.

Academic Year in order to meet the demand of Fordham’s strong population of service-oriented students.
The fair is targeted towards employers in the nonprofit, government, and healthcare industries. It is located at
our Rose Hill campus, and for the 2016-2017 Academic Year will take place on Wednesday, November 1st.

The On-Campus Recruiting Program is designed to give employers the opportunity to interview a large
numbers of students, conveniently, in one day. We handle all of the logistics so you can focus on the stu-
dents. Bringing interviews to campus is a great help to students in finding internships and job opportunities
for the summer and after graduation, without missing class time for interviews. In order to give students
sufficient time to complete their searches, we ask employers to abide by the following interview and
offer dates for the 2017-2018 academic year. The following policy also applies to all offers made via
resume drops. Employers may refer to our recruiting calendar for on-campus recruiting dates.
Employment Offers and Acceptance Policy
Employer full-time offer deadline:
On or before October 31st
Student decision deadline:
November 23rd
We also ask that employers making an offer
after October 31st give students until the last
day of on-campus interviews (December 9th)
to make a decision.
Employer full-time offer deadline:
On or before February 28th
Student decision deadline:
April 3rd
We also ask that employers making an offer
after February 28th give students until the last
day of on-campus interviews (May 5th) to make
a decision.
Employer full-time offer deadline:
On or before September 26th
Student decision deadline:
October 31st
Any offers made after September 26th should
follow the fall on campus recruiting offer
We ask that employers refrain from pressuring students on acceptances and understand the importance
of letting candidates make an informed decision. Exploding offers and special incentives such as di-
minishing bonuses and location preference should not be held out to induce a student to accept an offer
early. Pressure on students to accept early makes it difficult for us to enforce our policies against stu-
dents reneging on job offers.

Dining at Rose Hill
Fordham University is a member of the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), the
association for human resources and career services professionals. As members, we abide by the Principles for
Professional Conduct, an ethics document that serves as the framework and foundation for practices within the
career planning, placement, and recruitment processes.
The Principles document states that serving alcohol to job candidates is inappropriate and inadvisable and that
"Serving alcohol should not be part of the recruitment process on or off campus. This includes receptions,
dinners, company tours, etc." This policy includes events such as open or paid bar events, or holding a
recruiting event in a bar. Given the issue of alcohol abuse, both generally and on college campuses, NACE
standards state that serving alcohol at receptions and events sends the wrong message to students. Further,
many college students are younger than the state's drinking age, and many college campuses now have a zero-
alcohol-tolerance policy in effect. Therefore, serving alcohol at campus events may be in violation of a state's
law and a school's policy in some cases. Fordham’s Office of Career Services stands in agreement with these
policies and enforces them strictly at all events we host.
If you would like to read the Principles for Professional Conduct document in its entirety, you can find it on
NACE's web site, NACEWeb, at www.naceweb.org/principles/principl.html. To read an article composed by
the NACE Principles for Professional Conduct Committee on the history of this principle and why it is
included in the Principles document, please go to NACEWeb at www.naceweb.org/about/legal98sm.html.
