WHO Global Malaria Programme RECOMMENDS the use ofDDT forINDOOR RE-SIDUAL SPRAYING as it has LONGEST RESIDUAL EFFICACY when sprayed on wallsand ceilings. It is said to last up to a maximum of 12 months compared tosprays such as pyrethroids ( which lastthree to six months ) and organophos-phates and carbamates ( two to six months ).

The Parl iamentary Committee report also quotes Malaria Control Programmeofficials as highlighting that in the 1950s and 1960s, most countries in West-ern Europe and America used DDT to WIPE OUT MALARIA before banning thepesticide.

Beginning in the 1950s, DDT wasused on a massive scale to controlthe insect vectors of the Dutch ElmDisease, as well as the larvae of the

Gypsy Moth and the Spruce Budworm.

Wherever DDT was used, some con-sequences were observed thisusually involving a noticeable reduc-tion in bird activity, or a change intheir habits.

Some people commented that a re-duction in bird activity after an appli-cation of DDT could mean severalthings.

Using DDT would remove a foodsource from the birds.

This would lead to the birds flyingelsewhere for food.

It would not necessarily mean thatDDT was killing birds.

In 1965, an article was repeated ineach of the magazines Ecology andScience regarding the alleged deathof certain bird species following DDTapplications for Dutch Elm Disease in

Hanover, New Hampshire.

The author was Charles FrederickWurster Junior.

Wurster claimed that

Severe mortality of both residentand migrant birds occurred inHanover during spring 1963, and theevidence IMPLICATES DDT as itscause.

This was not necessarily an exhaus-tive study it was merely a visualcomparison between Hanover andNorwich, Vermont.

Norwich itself was never sprayed withDDT.

A mere 151 dead birds were found in

Hanover, 10 in Norwich, and the feed-ing habits of some birds APPEAREDchanged.

Incredibly, the dead birds were notalways analyzed for traces of DDT.

Obviously, DDT was held accountable.

WURSTER JUNIOR ?

The disgraceful and misleading articlediscussed in the preceding segmentwas cowritten by EnviroLunaticCharles Frederick Wurster Junior.

Wurster eventually became a cofounder and volunteer scientist for the Environmental Defense Fund( EDF ) beginning in 1967.

EDF was the EnvironmentalTerrorOrganization that instigated a majorconspiracy campaign against DDT.

Michael Crichton was the famous au-thor who wrote books like State ofFear and Jurassic Park.

Crichton was also a scientist and re-searcher.

In 2003, Crichton made following re-marks

I can tell you that DDT [ ] didnot cause birds to die, and shouldnever have been banned. [ ] Ban-ning DDT is one of the most disgrace-ful episodes in the Twentieth Centuryhistory of America.

Moreover, the restrictions on the useof DDT resulted in MILLIONS OF UN-NECESSARY DEATHS !

In 2004, Michael Crichton summed up

the situation with the following ex-cerpt from his book entitled State ofFear

Arguably, the greatest tragedy ofthe Twentieth Century was the re-moval of DDT.

DDT was the best insecticide for thecontrol of mosquitoes.

THE STOCKHOLM CONVENTION

The STOCKHOLM CONVENTION onPersistent Organic Pollutants was theresult of EnviroManiac negotiations

that began in Montreal in 1998 underthe United Nations Environment Pro-gramme.

The objective of the STOCKHOLMCONVENTION was to arbitrarily con-trol, reduce, or eliminate discharges,

emissions, and losses of persistentorganic pollutants to the environ-ment.

In 2004, the STOCKHOLM CONVEN-TION called for the elimination ofDDT, as well as other persistent or-ganic pollutants, barring any healthcrisis.

Ninetyeight countries ratified theconvention.

In 2003, Paul K. Driessen wrote thebook EcoImperialism GreenPower, BlackDeath.

Driessen claimed that MALARIADEATHS are TWO MILLION PER YEAR.

Moreover, the hundreds of millionswho survive the disease are too

sick to work or take care of theirfamilies.

They become more vulnerable to sub-sequent diseases, such as AIDS, dys-entery, and tuberculosis.

The survivors are obviously not ableto adequately contribute to the econ-omy.

According to Driessen

Its no wonder that SubSaharanAfrica is one of the most destitute re-gions on Earth.

It has been observed that the re-moval of DDT showed that the West

has a lack of compassion for thosesuffering in Third World countries.

Treatments were used long enough inthe Southern United States andSouthern Europe to eliminate insectborne diseases, but now that DDT isonly needed in poor countries, suchas those found in Africa and Asia, ithas been removed.

to SAVE LIVES, but they have beentold their agricultural exports may notbe accepted if spraying becomes widespread.

Both Belize and Bolivia have gone onrecord to say that they gave in tosuch pressure from USAID, the U.S.Agency for International Develop-ment.

Additionally, the European Union (EU)had threatened trade sanctions

against countries like Uganda thatseek to use DDT, even solely for ma-laria control.

DDT now plays a crucial part in theU.S. program, announced by Presi-dent George W. Bush in 2005, tospend an additional 1.2 billion dollarson malaria control over the next fiveyears.

Later in 2005, the U.S. Agency for In-ternational Development ( USAID )

reversed its longtime opposition tothe purchase of DDT.

This represented a momentous turn-about in U.S. foreign policy.

One area in which America has a

tremendous potential to help is in thefight against malaria. At home, ma-laria was eliminated decades ago.

It is possible to eliminate malaria. InAfrica, malaria remains a persistentkiller.

I think our citizens will be amazed tohear that last year, about a millionAfricans died of malaria.

The vast majority were children underfive their lives ended by nothingmore than a mosquito bite.

In some countries, more people die ofmalaria than HIV/AIDS and lastweek, a new study showed that peo-ple who contract malaria becomemore likely to spread HIV. [ ]

Were spending 1.2 billion dollarsover five years to provide bed nets,and INDOOR SPRAYING, and antimalarial medicine, in fifteen Africancountries.

Moreover, in 2006, the European Un-ion ( EU ) indicated that it would NOLONGER IMPOSE TRADE SANCTIONSon those countries that use DDT forcontrolling a HEALTH CRISIS.

Evidently, the malarial affliction ofmore than 515 million people per

year, and more than 1 million deathsper year due to malaria, qualified thissituation as health crisis , as de-fined by the 2004 STOCKHOLM CON-VENTION.

In essence, the 2004 STOCKHOLMCONVENTION paved the way for theworldwide endorsement of DDT inorder to control and repel the malariainsect vector.

WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION

ENDORSED DDT

On September 16th , 2006, the WorldHealth Organization ( WHO ) an-

nounced that DDT could be used onceagain as a principal tool against ma-

laria.

For 30 years, the WHO had phasedout DDT from widespread indoor re-sidual spraying.

As of 2006, WHO endorsed DDT for indoor residual spraying in thoseareas subject to epidemics, as well asin places with constant and high ma-laria transmission, including through-out Africa.

Ironically, several environmentalgroups now grudgingly endorse the

indoor use of DDT for malaria control,including Environmental DefenseFund, Sierra Club, and EndangeredWildlife Trust.

After having killed more people thanHitler, maybe the environmentalmovement finally grew a conscience ?Not completely !
