Miss MyKaila Eure

MyKaila, the daughter of Sharika V. Thompson and Michael S. Eure, the sister of SaiQuan J. Clark and Jameelah M. Simmons and the granddaughter of Trustee Imn and Trusteette Joycetine Burton, is an 8th grade student at W. E. Waters Middle School in Portsmouth.

She has been an honor student and loves to play basketball. She played basketball this past summer with I. C. Norcom J.V. Team and Boo

Williams. MyKaila hopes to play with I. C. Norcom this fall. She loves to draw, read and play basketball with her brother and granddad, especially in a game called “All Around the World,” where she wins most of the time.

MyKaila has a lot of family members and support at New First Baptist Church (Taylorsville) which includes Sister Lillie B. Williams, Deaconess Frances Williams, Sisters Kathy Burton-Bell, Vanessa Hinton, Cynthia Harrison, Tateona and Tyera Thompson and Shaniqua Sprately, and the late Sister Ora Burton (in our hearts always).

MyKaila loves doing the scripture reading, the welcome and singing with the Steelettes Youth Choir when she is able to attend worship services. She has also been a cast member in several plays written by her Aunt Vanessa.

Her favorite songs are “Nobody Greater” by LaShawn Mitchell and “He’s Coming Back” by Al Green. Her favorite scripture reading is Psalm 116:1-2, “I love the Lord, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications. Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.”

To our “Youth in the Spotlight,” Miss MyKaila Eure, Congratulations!

May your light shine brightly for the Lord encouraging other youth to come and learn about His goodness and mercy!

Sister Fannie L. Cofield

For over 35 years, Sister Fannie L. Cofield has been a faithful member of New First Baptist Church (Taylorsville). At the blessed age of 83 years, she is the second oldest of 15 children born and raised in Gates County, North Carolina. Sister Cofield is a widow with two adult children: one daughter, Laverne Williams and one son, Ernest Cofield. She is a grandmother of two, Eric and Damien

Williams and a great grandmother of five.

Sister Cofield loves cooking (especially baking), gardening and decorating. She enjoys traveling and shopping (fashionable clothes) but most of all she loves to praise and serve the Lord.

Sister Cofield is one of the original members of the New First Baptist Church (Taylorsville) Hospitality Ministry. She has been recognized for her dedication and will-ingness to serve. She attends Vacation Bible School, Noon Day Prayer Service and Adult Bible Study. Her favorite scripture is the Psalm 23 and favorite Christian song, “I Won’t Complain.”

What does Sister Cofield love about New First Baptist Church (Taylorsville): Friendship and Fellowship. “I love the highly–spirited worship service with the good singing, preaching and praise. I love the Hospitality Ministry because it gives me an opportunity to serve the Lord and the church.”

To God be the glory for Sister Fannie L. Cofield for showing her love for the Lord through her service at New First Baptist Church (Taylorsville). We are thankful for her 35 years of lovingly sharing her gifts and talents with her church family.

Congratulations to our “Senior in the Spotlight,” Sister Fannie L. Cofield. May the Lord’s blessings continue to rain down upon you.
