Every two seconds someone in Los Angeles requires a blood transfusion. For more than 25 years, the Harvard- Westlake Parents Association has hosted a fall blood drive on-campus with the UCLA Blood and Platelet Center. The majority of donors are students, many of whom donate blood for the first time. Each donation can help save the life of three people in need. Thank you to all those who participated and demonstrated a purpose beyond ourselves. Parents, students, alumni and faculty joined the non-profit, Big Sunday, alongside Bethune Middle School students and families for cleaning, painting, sorting, and gardening at their dynamic south Los Angeles campus. RIVER CLEAN-UP The Harvard-Westlake environmental club has committed to monthly service on-campus and in the community to further green and sustainable initiatives. On the last Saturday of each month, students spend their morning with the Village Gardners restoring the banks of the LA River in Sherman Oaks. The students focus on the area along Valleyheart between the amphitheater and Coldwater Canyon. The club will continue its efforts along the river where Harvard-Westlake has adopted this bank of the riverwalk.
