Philippians 3:20-21Sunday Morning

Philippians 3:20-2120 For our citizenship is in heaven,

from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus

Christ, 21 who will transform our lowly body that it may be

conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which

He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.

Page 4: “For the Joy of the Lord is your Strength”

Hebrews 9:27"And as it is appointed for men to

die once, but after this the judgment"

Page 5: “For the Joy of the Lord is your Strength”

2 Timothy 4:8"Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved

His appearing"

Page 6: “For the Joy of the Lord is your Strength”

2 Corinthians 5:8-108 We are confident, yes, well

pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. 9 Therefore we make it

our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him.

Page 7: “For the Joy of the Lord is your Strength”

10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to

what he has done, whether good or bad.

1. We live in a Fallen World

Page 9: “For the Joy of the Lord is your Strength”

Romans 5:12-1412 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and

death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all

sinned-- 13(For until the law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law.

Page 10: “For the Joy of the Lord is your Strength”

14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over

those who had not sinned according to the likeness of the transgression of Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come.

2. God uses these Experiences to Complete our Sanctification

Page 12: “For the Joy of the Lord is your Strength”

Romans 8:29-3029 For whom He foreknew, He also

predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover

whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these

He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified...

3. The Lord wants us to Live in Obedience to Him

Page 14: “For the Joy of the Lord is your Strength”

2 Corinthians 10:4-64 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and

every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God,

Page 15: “For the Joy of the Lord is your Strength”

bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of

Christ, 6 and being ready to punish all disobedience when your

obedience is fulfilled.

Page 16: “For the Joy of the Lord is your Strength”

James 1:2-42 My brethren, count it all joy

when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

Page 17: “For the Joy of the Lord is your Strength”

Romans 1:16-1716 For I am not ashamed of the

gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone

who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written,

"The just shall live by faith."

Page 18: “For the Joy of the Lord is your Strength”

Romans 6:23"For the wages of sin is death, but

the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord"

1. We Stay Asleep Until Jesus Comes

Page 20: “For the Joy of the Lord is your Strength”

Luke 23:39-4339 Then one of the criminals who were hanged blasphemed Him,

saying, "If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us." 40 But the other, answering, rebuked him, saying,

"Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same

condemnation?

Page 21: “For the Joy of the Lord is your Strength”

41 And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done

nothing wrong." 42 Then he said to Jesus, "Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom." 43

And Jesus said to him, "Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with

Me in Paradise."

Page 22: “For the Joy of the Lord is your Strength”

2 Corinthians 5:7-87 For we walk by faith, not by

sight. 8 We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with

the Lord.

Page 23: “For the Joy of the Lord is your Strength”

2. We Are Annihilated

Page 24: “For the Joy of the Lord is your Strength”

Hebrews 9:27"And as it is appointed for men to

die once, but after this the judgment"

Page 25: “For the Joy of the Lord is your Strength”

3. We go to Purgatory

Page 26: “For the Joy of the Lord is your Strength”

Luke 16:19-3119 "There was a certain rich man

who was clothed in purple and fine linen and fared sumptuously every

day. 20 But there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, full of

sores, who was laid at his gate, 21 desiring to be fed with the crumbs

Page 27: “For the Joy of the Lord is your Strength”

which fell from the rich man's table. Moreover the dogs came

and licked his sores. 22 So it was that the beggar died, and was

carried by the angels to Abraham's bosom. The rich man also died and

was buried. 23 And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his

eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

Page 28: “For the Joy of the Lord is your Strength”

24 Then he cried and said, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.' 25 But Abraham said,

'Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good

Page 29: “For the Joy of the Lord is your Strength”

things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and

you are tormented. 26 And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who

want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us.' 27 Then he said, 'I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my

father's house,

Page 30: “For the Joy of the Lord is your Strength”

28 for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.' 29 Abraham said to him, 'They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.' 30 And he said, 'No,

father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they will

repent.’

Page 31: “For the Joy of the Lord is your Strength”

31 But he said to him, 'If they do not hear Moses and the prophets,

neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.' "

Page 32: “For the Joy of the Lord is your Strength”

1 Thessalonians 4:13-1813 But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning

those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no

hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who

sleep in Jesus.

Page 33: “For the Joy of the Lord is your Strength”

15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming

of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend

from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with

the trumpet of God.

Page 34: “For the Joy of the Lord is your Strength”

And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and

remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one

another with these words.

Revelation 20:11-1511 Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled

away. And there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, standing

before God, and books were opened.

Page 36: “For the Joy of the Lord is your Strength”

The And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life.

And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death

and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them.

Page 37: “For the Joy of the Lord is your Strength”

And they were judged, each one according to his works. 14 Then Death and Hades were cast into

the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And anyone not found

written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.

Revelation 21:7-87 He who overcomes shall inherit

all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. 8 But the

cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually

immoral, sorcerers, idolaters,

Page 39: “For the Joy of the Lord is your Strength”

and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and

brimstone, which is the second death."
