For most of us, Nirvana means blissful happiness - that elusive state of well-being, satisfaction and contentment which makes life worth living.

Nirvana - what do we understand by this term?

In the western world, Nirvana means heaven either on Earth or in some faraway spiritual realm.

In Jainism, Nirvana is all about being free from all obligations whether worldly or spiritual.

In Buddhism, Nirvana is that elusive state of cosmic bliss where emotion and desire are non-existent.

In Hinduism, Nirvana is achieving completeness with Brahman or the supreme being of the universe and hence, the attainment of utmost purity.

What is Nirvana Foundation?

The founding principle of Nirvana Foundation is that the rst place where one nds nirvana is in the Embrace of ones own mother. The mother is the rst source of all joy and satisfaction in one’s life - it’s not money, it’s not companionship, it’s not worldly possession and it’s not life experience. It is in the love of one’s mother.

Once a person has become self-aware, the source of nirvana shifts to Education. Learning about life & one’s self is part of one’s growth. Education helps one come to terms with life & also acquire the knowledge needed to stand rm and face adversity.

Education leads to Empowerment.

Nirvana Foundation envisages a world in which each individual is Empowered enough to not only take care of himself but also others who need support around him.

Concieved in 2000, founded in mid 2014 and based in Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh - India, Nirvana Foundation looks to: Embrace those who need the most support, Educate those who need the most guidance and Empower those who feel abandoned by the world.

Nirvana Foundation is a Not for Prot - Non Government Organization that aims to provide shelter to destitute Children, underprivileged Women and Senior Citizens of our society, regardless of their religion, caste or social status.

The inspiration for Nirvana Foundation came from Mr. Sanjay Singh from his own early life experiences.

Even though Mr. Singh went on to forge a very successful career in the corporate world of the IT sector, he understood that every child is not as lucky as him.

Owing to his specic experiences and struggles in life Mr. Singh contacted the other Founding Members and managed to combine the skill, talent, experience & resources of each one of them into the coherent Nirvana Foundation.

In its nascent stage, the edgling Nirvana Foundation is supported by over 25 people at any given time discharging various roles.

Nirvana Foundation will focus on the basic needs of these individuals and provide education, healthcare and vocational skills necessary to transform them into responsible citizens of our society. We believe that each child, woman and senior citizen in our nation has the right to a better quality of life & our objective is to help them to achieve it. It chooses to do this by establishing, maintaining, supporting and running centres at various places and provide shelter and rehabilitation to those members of our society who need it the most.

We are committed:• To Embrace those who are conned to extreme pain & sufferings• To Educate the deprived• To Empower people to regain their self-respect

Our Mission

To be a pedestal of hope for disadvantaged children, women and senior citizens by sharing unconditional love & support and thereby contribute in their progress.

Project Pehla Kadam is aimed at embracing children who have suffered at the hands of fate and have been abandoned by society. Such children need a tender hand and the opportunity to show that they are also capable of great things. Through Project Pehla Kadam, Nirvana Foundation will look to help destitute and underprivileged children take their rst steps towards acceptance in the society (Embrace), realisation of their potential (Educate) and ability to be self-sufcient (Empower).

Nirvana Foundation accepts children of all ages without any bias towards caste, creed, gender or even the situation that brings to us. While some children will stay under the umbrella of Nirvana Foundation only for a short duration of time, others will spend a considerably longer period involving schooling, higher education and vocational training.

Nirvana Foundation is focused on providing excellent care to deprived children through Project Pehla Kadam. The nucleus of this project will be a devoted Child Home, which will house upwards of 100 children. For every group of 15 to 20 children, two House Mothers will be assigned - who will be responsible for the wellbeing of the children.

Each House Mother will be trained in her tasks of cooking and child care. Furthermore, Nirvana Foundation makes sure of the integrity of each House Mother by conducting thorough background checks and character evaluations. This model of operation was chosen because it has proven to be benecial for both the House Mothers, who were purposeless earlier and the children who need special care.

MissionThrough Project Pehla Kadam, Nirvana Foundation aims to provide home, education, healthcare & vocational skills for destitute children.

ObjectivesOffer shelter, food, clothing, education, healthcare, security and a sense of belonging

Project Home of Motherly Affectionmamtadham

The direct translation of Mamtadham is home of motherly affection. Project Mamtadham is an initiative of Nirvana Foundation for women who are struggling to stand on their own feet either because they are being deliberately exploited or are just victims of unfortunate circumstances.

While there are women in urban areas who are battling with such problems, the plight of such women is much more common in rural areas where all it takes for exploitation to begin is the loss of support from the husband and the maternal home. There are even cases of domestic violence, mental torture and even sexual indiscretions that push some women to seek out external support. Nirvana Foundation accepts all women who are looking for support and protection, irrespective of their caste or religion.

Project Home of Motherly Affectionmamtadham

The women in Project Mamtadham will be rst rehabilitated to function normally with everyone before being given specic education or vocational training that will allow them to become independent & have others depend on them as opposed to being on others. For instance, after their rehabilitation through the Project Mamtadham some women become a part of Project Pehla Kadam in the role of House Mothers.

MissionThrough Project Mamtadham, Nirvana Foundation aims to enhance socio - economic status of underprivileged women by empowering them with the skills needed to be independent and self-sufcient in life.

Project Lamp of Hopemangaldeep

Nirvana Foundation is a modern Not for Prot - Non Government Organisation and still it knows the importance of values to a country like India. Every decision in Nirvana Foundation is based upon the Indian moral setup. Due to our strong ties towards Indian culture, we have designed a separate project to uphold one of the most fundamental Indian moral values of respect for our elders.

Unfortunately many segments of our society have forgotten this and it is now becoming alarmingly common for the elderly to be abandoned and left to their own devices by their families. As old age progresses, the elderly become even more incapable of taking care of themselves.

Page 11: For most of us, Nirvana means blissful happiness - that ......Nirvana Foundation is a modern Not for Pro˜t - Non Government Organisation and still it knows the importance of values

Project Lamp of Hopemangaldeep

Project Mangaldeep, in simplest of terms, provides a home for homeless senior citizens. It is devoted solely to senior citizens who neither have anyone to call their own nor the resources to live their lives in comfort and peace. Nirvana Foundation, under its Project Mangaldeep will establish specialised homes where the elderly can come and live with dignity amongst people who value their wellbeing and their presence.

These specialised homes are customized & built for senior citizens making it a suitable place to live with the right necessities.

MissionThrough Project Mangaldeep, Nirvana Foundation seeks to provide the senior citizens with shelter and affection, so they can be happy in their nal years.

ObjectivesOffer shelter, food, clothing and other basic elements that they need to live out their lives with dignity and in comfort

Render medical care when required

Allow them access to opportunities where they can practice their specic skills and talent

If possible, help the elderly reunite with their families

Provide access to fellowship activities, recreational facilities, mental support, social affairs and spiritual formation

Chhatarpur is one of many regions in Madhya Pradesh which are out of sync with inclusive growth focused values of the country. Chhatarpur is one of the least connected regions in the country as it can only be reached by road. The closest railway stations to Chhatarpur are Khajuraho which is 45 kilometres away, Harpalpur (55 kilometres away), Jhansi (130 kilometres away) & Satna (140 kilometres away). The closest airport to Chhatarpur is also located at Khajuraho.

Nirvana Foundation’s operational headquarter is being constructed on the highway to Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh. The premises will contain facilities that will be suitable for all three projects of Nirvana Foundation. Beneciaries of each of the project will be housed in adjacent facilities but will be able to interact with each other for more inclusive and synergistic growth.

The area’s current situation is capsulated by the fact that its literacy rate is a mere 68% with male boasting of a higher literacy rate than female. Chhatarpur also lacks enough opportunities for improvement & betterment largely because it does not have any large scale industries. In fact, the citizens are mainly farmers with some employed in the mining industry and a few boasting of small scale businesses.

Nirvana Foundation’s choice of Chhatarpur as its location of operations is based on careful evaluation of where it is needed the most. Due to lack of education, poor nancial conditions and minimal exposure to compassionate values, people tend to get exploited more in rural areas.

Why Chhatarpur, MP?

Mr Sanjay Singh is the primary driving force behind Nirvana Foundation. According to Mr Singh, the drive for establishing an organisation like Nirvana Foundation is a result of his inability to see tears on other’s faces. With Nirvana Foundation, he hopes to make a difference by wiping away tears and bringing a smile to faces that have not smiled for years.

This is precisely why Mr Singh left a thriving career in the corporate world in the IT sector of India to establish Nirvana Foundation from scratch. In fact, as early as 2000, Mr Singh began helping others. He adopted 16 families in 2000 because they didn’t have a source of income on account of the primary earning members being physically challenged in one way or another. He has helped these families give their children the proper education and a healthy life. The idea for the inception of Nirvana Foundation originated with Mr Singh and he has since managed to make it in a reality by bringing together contributors from various spheres of life.

Mr Singh will be the Secretary and primary operational head for Nirvana Foundation. He will be the communication channel between all the members as well as the rst-hand dealing party for the organisation.
