In line with many other Local Authorities, we are making these changes as part of our commitment to the Scottish Government’s Household Recycling Charter, which aims to make waste collection systems across Scotland more consistent and achieve a greater value from recycling by improving material quality.

Your household waste recycling centres

Dundee has two Recycling Centres to allow you to recycle a wide range of materials.

Please ensure that all recyclable material is separated before you visit the site. Staff are on site to offer advice and direct you to the correct container.

Unwanted furniture and other household items which can be repaired can also be donated for re-use at the Re-Use Hub at Baldovie Recycling Centre.

Why are these changes being introduced?

Dundee City Council is introducing these changes as part of our commitment to the Scottish Government’s Charter for Household Recycling in Scotland. The Charter aims to increase the quality of materials collected for recycling by ensuring that different types of material are collected separately wherever possible. These changes will make it easier for households to recycle and align waste collection systems across both Dundee and Scotland.

What if I have extra waste that won’t fit in my bin?

If you have extra waste or recycling you can take it, free of charge, to one of Dundee’s recycling centres at Baldovie and Riverside, please see p15 of this leaflet for more details. Or make use of the Special Uplift service (charges apply) - call 01382 436238 for details.

Food waste is a valuable resource which can be recycled to generate renewable heat and energy as well as nutrient rich fertiliser. The service is designed to be clean and easy to use.

Why should I use the food waste collection service?

If you already have an assisted collection for your grey, blue and burgundy bins, this service will continue. If everyone in the household is over 70, or has a disability, they can request an assisted collection by contacting us on 01382 434300.
