Cengage and I have a long relationship, and I waited for years for something great to be available for my capstone course. In the meantime we used another company’s online product. My Learning Consultant (LC) was always coming to my oﬃce and asking what I needed. The other company’s rep wasn’t. I said I wanted online product with real-life case studies. I wanted it to be alive. Has MindTap met your expectations? It’s unlike anything I’ve ever used. Cengage is doing it right. MindTap is a textbook on steroids. I didn’t realize it had so many features, like video clips and WriteExperience, until I dove in. Our students live with tech and as an instructor you have a short time to engage them. MindTap makes them engage, makes them think. What results did you see with MindTap? Students came to class prepared and said, “I listened to the text on my commute.” The majority of our students work, so the mobile app is ideal. They sit outside and study on their phone. On my exit survey, 89% of my students said they liked the exercises in MindTap. It’s hard to prepare students for the real world, but MindTap shows them what it’s like to be a manager in business situations, and makes them think like managers. And the students seem more conﬁdent talking to prospective employers. How would you describe Cengage service and support? I’ve never had service like this. After a complete review, our faculty overwhelmingly wanted MindTap, and our decision was partially because of our LC. We call her Superwoman! Things happen anytime you use tech, so you need help. But with Cengage we’ve had all of the training we’ve wanted. Our LC and digital solutions consultant make it easier to walk into a new product and use it right away. And our rep is there to help students, too. What would you say to faculty who are hesitant about MindTap? We as faculty are busy. These days we have more students and more to do. Not all teachers love technology, and there’s a learning curve. But once you set up your MindTap course, it’s glorious. Take the leap.
