Wishing you and your families a Blessed New Year. At the beginning of each New Year it seems natural to look back at the old year, even for just a moment. As I look back it has been an amazing year filled with many great memories of fun, fellowship and faithfulness.

As a church we continued to learn and grow in our understanding of what becoming a vital congregation is about through the teachings of our MCCI coaches Rev. Sue Neilson Kibbey and Rev. Joseph Bishman. The incredible support of the congregation to accept the prescriptions was very encouraging. Following that we had an incredible response to our Stewardship initiative “Stepping Up” which will be a blessing for us going into 2020.

We welcomed Rev. Deb Egloff to lead our Children Youth and Family ministry and have seen our children blossom. Our connection with Fairbrook has grown with tutors making a difference in the lives of the children. We are grateful to Maggie Carpenter from Wright State University, Ed Baker and Margaret Erin for working with the children in our Children’s Choir, which has brought joy to many.

We have enjoyed worship both indoors and outdoors that has deepened our relationship with God. Finally, we have an increased number of groups from the community that are using our building for programs for children and youth.

The answers to our breakthrough prayer have brought us many blessings in 2019.

As we enter 2020 we are looking forward to many teams working with coaches to transform our communication, and worship as well as how we engage with first time guests. In addition, it is a joy for me to have us host a Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University workshop beginning Thursday, January 30th 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Please make contact with the facilitator Gary Kaczmarek to reserve your spot for the classes. The investment you make in taking these classes will bring you the peace you long for and set you free to enjoy life to the fullest with your family. May 2020 be the year when you find yourself financially, emotionally, mentally and spiritually healthy. Remember: Isaiah 43:19 “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? Who is the facilitator for Financial Peace University?

Shaun Nicholson and Pastor Lilanthi are delighted to I

ntroduce you to Gary Kaczmarek (on the right) with Dave

Ramsey. Gary “Kaz” Kaczmarek grew up on a dairy farm in

Seville, OH prior to enlisting in the U.S. Air Force (USAF).

He’s been married for over 25 years to his wife Anja, and

has three grown children and three grandchildren. He’s an avid sports

enthusiast, and enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with family and

friends.

After enlisting in the USAF in 1987 Gary served our country around the globe

and the USA. Gary became interested in Dave Ramsey’s after reading the

Total Money Makeover book in 2008. He and his wife would attend Financial

Peace University (FPU) the next year, and he would go on to lead dozens of

FPU classes within the military and church communities overseas and at his

current church in Centerville, OH. Gary and his wife enjoy seeing how FPU

helps individuals and families transform their lives and marriages, by getting

on a plan to become debt free and are able to give and save more.

Gary attended the Dave Ramsey’s Counselor Training in Nashville, TN in

2012, and is currently one of the few Ramsey Preferred Coaches in the state

of Ohio. He is passionate about assisting his clients who are committed to

getting their financial house in order. He has a heart of a teacher and enjoys

teaching, and sharing his knowledge with those who are faithful, available

and teachable. He currently operates his non-profit ministry service on a

donation basis, where his clients are asked to donate to one of the many

charities he supports.

REMEMBER TO PRAY THE GENEROUS GIVERS BREAKTHROUGH PRAYER

(INPUT GIVEN BY OUR CHILDREN)

Generous God, You are kind and giving, and it is because of you that we can become people who like to give. Make us kind in our giving as we pay more attention to what is important to you. In becoming generous givers, may we discover that when we give to others “Anything, is possible, anything can be”. So By your Holy Spirit give us the courage to take one step in our giving, and may the decisions we make be pleasing to you and lead to greater joy now and forever. Amen

Highlighting Ministries at St. Andrew

Happy New Year from Children, Youth, and Family Ministry!

It is always joyful, and hopeful when something new is beginning, and the best part is that it is beginning with ALL of us.

The biggest celebration as we begin this New Year is our relationship with Fairbrook Elementary School! We have been tutoring and providing opportunities for children that have not only been supportive of the school and the children but have blessed us in return. The children are delightful and eager, and when they come to the church for things, or see us when we are at the school, they know who we are! If you are a tutor, please plan to attend a Tutor Meeting Sunday, January 5th in the conference room after church so we can connect with you on how you are doing and any needs or concerns you have.

We have a delightful Children’s Choir and some of our choir families have blessed us by getting to know us better through the Sunday morning connection when the choir sings, and coming to other opportunities in November & December to be

with us such as the Bazaar, the pancake breakfast, movie nights, and Christmas Eve! We are enormously grateful for all who have been involved, and all who will engage as we go forward. If you are not currently tutoring and would like to connect to Fairbrook School, there are some great opportunities coming up soon! Mark these events on your calendar and let us know if you can join us. Contact Rev. Deb or sign up in the Atrium on Sundays this month. Math Night at the School – Wednesday night, Jan. 22 from 5-7 pm. Math night at the School – Tuesday night, Feb. 25 from 5-7 pm. We will be assisting in whatever way we can with activities for these two evenings of learning fun. Children’s Ministry is grateful to the United Methodist Women and the Bazaar team for affirming our ministry with children at St. Andrew by giving us a donation. We look forward to how this support will assist us as we remodel the Activity Room (former Theater Room). We have already received a donation of 8 lovely wooden benches for seating children as we look to possibilities for children’s Praise & Worship in this space. Our Safe Sanctuary update training is top on our list for the New Year! We will be contacting you at the end of January to update your status if you have served with Children or youth, so you are compliant with our policy, and we will be holding a Train-ing for anyone who is need of the training. The committees that need to review our policy will have their work completed by this time. Safety is how we love our Kids! As you being this new year, do it safely…do it creatively….and put God at the center of it all as you relate to one another and those who God has called us to serve! Rev. Deb email: [email protected]
