Football
Participation:
Firstly, looking at the graph above shows how manyplayers
were in the Premier League and the numbers of how many
British footballers play within the League, this has somewhat
declined by around 50% over the last 17-18 years. This starting
from 500 in 1992/93 and then decreasing to 262 in the
2009/2010 season.
Football has increased and decreased in some areas, overall there are more numbers than that of
the league in 1992/93 but the numbers of British participants have decreased due to the influx offoreign players.
British ratio, all ages shows that the number of British players had also declined throughout the
years, this resulting in a lack of role models for younger generations to look up to within the UK.
Also, whilst female participation has increased over the years, the male participation has dropped.
With the current financial cuts in football, I
believe that the amount for spending for
foreign players will decrease, giving time
for young British talent to come throughthe clubs and increase these numbers for
the future, benefitting many players as
they can play with some great players who
are already in the league.
I believe that there has been a slight
decline in British players participation due
to the fact that racism has been
highlighted throughout the country,
situations like Luis Suarez and Patrice Evra
and the snub of a handshake, and the
alleged John Terry and Anton Ferdinandsituation. This could have prevented
parents from encouraging their children
from all ethnic backgrounds from getting
involved in football.

the world, newspapers, magazines, news, radio and especially the TV are the main ways people find
out about football being played on certain days and times, there is also a breakdown of each game,
this providing information to the fans.
Football is the most media covered sport in the world, this
results in the sport with a very large through media

in 1992/93 season until 1996/97 the media income was
191m compared to the 2010/11 2012/13 revenue of
1.782bn, this is has increase by around 1.500BN over the
last 18 years due to more channels and demand from the
footballing population.
Premier League clubs take around 595m.
There are Channels such as; BBC1, ITV1, ITV2, Channel5, Skysports, EuroSport etc. These show live
matches from many leagues and even international matches.
