What was the scoring sequence and who scored?

• No player managed to score a hat-trick in this tournament. Italy, Germany, Argentina, Brazil and France were the only teams to score more than one goal in a knockout match. Germany was one of the exceptions, tending to play an attacking style of football throughout the knock-out stage, which was reflected by the fact that they

scored the most number of goals (14), with players from all three outfield positions (defense, midfield and forward) making the score sheet. Below here is table of people who scored in the finals:

• Scoring Sequence

• Pirlo Materazzi De Rossi Del Piero Grosso

Choose 1 of the goals and describe using Football terminology the sequence of play leading up to the

goal

• .• The hosts got three goals in 20 minutes in the

second half with the help of 21-year-old left midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger’s. His first goal beat the Portuguese goalkeeper Ricardo with pace over his head. Only 4 minutes later, Schweinsteiger's free kick 30 meters from the left of the penalty box, driven low across goal, was connected with Petit's knee to become an own goal for Portugal. The German did not stop, and netted his second goal, which swerved away to the keeper's left, in the 78th minute

What could the defense have done to more effectively try and stop the goal being scored?

• Maybe what could the defense could have done is that on eat the right and the left and in this way if the goalie gets tricked the defense would be there. But in this case this was a penalty shoot so the defense could have been really fast and took it out.
