We offer two solutions for a food waste system: The Norwegian patented Enviro 2000 system from Global Enviro is a system capable quickly and odourlessly converting food waste into fertiliser in just 18 hours, with a weight, volume and cost reduction of up to 93%.

The Restewolf RW 101 food waste system from Avermann Maschinenfabrik GmbH also has a shredder, but here the food waste is delivered to biotanks. The biotanks are emptied and the contents picked up by tankers, and then transported and delivered to the biogas plant to produce biomass energy.

The food waste systems are used by hotels, large catering kitchens, convenience stores and shopping centres, fishing boats, processing plants for meat and fish, and not least at the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet, which has three kitchens linked to a single system.

Three kitchens in the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet have been equipped with the Enviro 2000 model 250, a system for handling food waste. In a large building like this it stands to reason that the waste trolleys had a long way to travel. Each of the kitchens is equipped with a shredder. The food waste is emptied into the shredder, then shredded and automatically carried away via a closed vacuum system. The waste is conveyed unnoticed for hundreds of metres through the building.

In the basement is a reception point for the waste, the bioreactor, where the finely ground pulp is sucked into the central unit proper. The fat is separated off into dedicated containers that are emptied and the contents carried off by a tanker approximately once a month. Once most of the water has been removed from the waste using a compactor unit, the rest is sent to the bioreactor which emits heat that is beneficial to aerobic bacteria. These are optimal conditions for the bacteria flora to do their work and reduce the original amount of waste by up to 93 % in weight and volume. All that remains is a substance reminiscent of dry coffee grounds, which is basically pure humus, completely free of any intrusive odour.

In addition, the system is a closed facility, with no other forms of chemicals or other substances added to the process. We also obtain a very competitive green audit in terms of reduction in waste, transport and land fill.

Enviro 2000 is a food waste system manufactured by Global Enviro under Norwegian patent. It involves a closed system without any manual handling, reducing the weight and quantity of food waste by up to 93 %. Within 18 hours, the food waste is turned into compost that is completely free of any odour. The system is a closed installation and no chemicals or other substances are added to the process, nor is any manual handling required. The system is available in three models, and the number of constituent modules and types of solution are tailored to the needs of the customer. Model 50, the smallest, is supplied with an internal or external shredder. Models 100 and 250 only come with an external shredder.

We have installed Enviro 2000 in a number of hotels, large catering kitchens, convenience stores and shopping centres, fishing boats, processing plants for meat and fish, and not least at the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet, which has three kitchens connected up to a single system. Enviro 2000 is a great help for the individual company and employee in terms of EHS requirements. In addition, waste collection costs are considerably reduced. We also obtain a very competitive green audit in terms of reduction in waste, transport and land fill.

Vacuum system

The food waste can be conveyed in all directions by vacuum, including upwards and over greater distances. Several shredders may be connected to one and the same composting system.

Enviro 2000

ShredderThe food waste is thrown into a shredder located in the kitchen non-clean zone. The unit has a large opening for throwing in the waste and a hand-wash to make the work hygienic and easy. The food waste is shredded and automatically conveyed via a closed vacuum system.

DehydratorThe food is carried automatically from the vacuum system up into a dehydrator. The dehydrator consists of a screw that carries the food waste up into the composting machine at the same time as pressing out any water and fat, which goes to fat separators. The fat ends up in dedicated containers that are emptied as needed. The dehydrator is located so as to allow easy access for the purposes of maintenance and cleaning.

Touch screenA high-tech information display gives a complete overview of all processes in the system. The information can also be controlled remotely if connected to a computer network or if GPRS is used.

Model 100 and 250

BioreactorThe dehydrated food waste that is now left ends up in the bioreactor. This emits heat and is beneficial for aerobic bacteria. These are optimal conditions for the bacterial flora to do their work and reduce the original amount of waste by approximately 90 % in terms of weight and volume. All that remains is a substance

reminiscent of dry coffee grounds, which is basically pure dry humus, completely free of any intrusive odour.

The system may be positioned both at an angle and in a straight line. Both solutions take up a minimum of space. Below is a layout for model 250 which, at an angle, fits into less than 6 m2. Installed in a straight line, it requires a minimum room length of 4.1 metres and a depth of approximately 1.6 metres.

Air cleanerTogether with the food waste system, an Enviro ACS air purifier will be installed, which consists of a particle filter and a carbon filter. We can also offer UV-C.

UV-C is radiation that simultaneously produces ozone, O³. The advantages of this are that any fat molecules are burnt up, the air is sterilised and any odour particles removed. The UV-C light regenerates the carbon in the carbon filter enhancing the life and functionality of the latter. UV-C has been supplied to a number of establishments, including Kings Bay on Svalbard, Norwegian islands in the Arctic.

The first systems were installed at Holmenkollen Park Hotel and Rica Sunnfjord Hotel in Norway approximately 4 years ago. Since then, they have been a real success, and many more hotels, convenience stores and shopping centres, as well as other venues with large catering kitchens, have been added to the list. In the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet, three kitchens are linked to a single system. In the fisheries industry, Enviro 2000 comes into its own, and at the Norwegian Polar Institute’s research station in Antarctica’s Queen Maud Land, the system is regarded as absolutely indispensable.

Enviro 2000 is fully automated and may be remote controlled. The components are supplied by Schneider Electric – world leaders in automation products.

Enviro 2000

A new truck emits 12.1 kg of CO² per tonne of load for each kilometre travelled. In other words, a return trip of 300 km, carrying 100 tonnes, will amount to 300 x 12.1 x 100 = 363,000 kg CO² per year in addition to NOX.Here the food waste must be treated using incineration.This results in more CO² alone than Enviro 2000, or a biogasthat will be near-similar as it utilises the methane gas.

The ResteWolf RW 101 from Avermann Maschinenfabrik GmbH is a popular solution on the European market when it comes to recycling food as biomass energy. Individual markets demand different solutions. Europe is the scene of a joint initiative in the field of biogas, which is carbon dioxide neutral, renewable and the cleanest energy source on the market. The idea behind it is to utilise organic waste that has already been produced and for which production is ongoing.

The ResteWolf RW 101 shreds the food waste, which is compacted down to approximately 60 % and fed via a closed pipe system to one or more containers. The containers, which can be connected in series if desired, are emptied and the contents picked up by tanker/slurry tanker, and transported and delivered to the biogas plant for biomass energy. This is a good recycling process in terms of CO² emissions, provided the transport distances to the biogas plant are not too great. The RW 101 is used by large catering kitchens, such as canteens, restaurants, and hotels, the food industry, food stores and many others.

Very hygienic The ResteWolf RW 101 is a completely closed system. The food is emptied into the shredders, the lid closed, and there is then no direct contact between people and the food waste anywhere in the process right through to biomass energy. The shredders are of compact design, made from stainless steel.

They are designed to ensure most soft food waste, such as rice, potatoes, spaghetti, meat, vegetables and fruit, is shredded. They also shred harder materials, such as animal bones, fish, shells, and egg shell, etc. If by mistake, disposable gloves, plastic cups, plates or spoons get thrown in as well, these get eaten up by the “wolf” shredders.

The shredders can be positioned in a kitchen non-clean zone, which makes handling of them easy and efficient for the staff. The system also features excellent staff safety, as well as being easy to maintain and service.

The RW 101 can be located in a kitchen non-clean zone.

ResteWolf RW 101

The ResteWolf RW 101 systemThe shredder is made of stainless steel and easy to keep clean. The shredder’s outlet for the pipe system can be fitted on several sides.

The food is shredded and conveyed through a pipeline. The pipeline is always kept at 45°C, to promote decomposition. The pipeline ends up in the biotank(s).

Ventilation from the biotank is via a pipeline located as desired. In this layout it is shown above the roof. The tank is emptied by means of a tanker/slurry tanker which gets connected via a pipe running from the tank and through the external wall.

Environmentally friendly and excellent overall economyThe system represents a considerable hygienic asset in terms of the working environment. Food waste does not get stored for long periods but disappears immediately from the work place. In addition the systems and procedures for EHS are improved, with, for instance, less heavy lifting and transportation of waste over longer distances.

The solution saves energy, and no energy is used in having to cool a waste area. The reduction in transport costs that results from fewer pick-ups/emptying runs is also a saving for the community in terms of CO² emissions.

The Restewolf is very cost-effective, with a short payback period. All in all, the ResteWolf RW 101 delivers a very positive audit, both for people and the environment.

Biogas, energy medium of the futureBiogas is an environmentally friendly process that can be based on a wide variety of organic wastes, such as wet organic waste, wastewater slurry, domestic animal manure and other organic materials, both naturally occurring and industrially produced.

Biogas can be used in electricity and heat generation and as an environmentally friendly fuel giving a cleaner local environment and lower greenhouse gas emissions than most of the current alternatives. The framework conditions for the use of biogas vary from country to country, but they are rapidly developing.

Bins for Food Waste

In combination with the Enviro 2000 and Restewolf 101 food waste systems, the EP 430 collector stand with its stainless steel castor-chassis is indispensable.

The chassis is of extremely solid design and is height-adjustable. It is made of 25 mm stainless steel with four braked castors. The container is made of white polypropylene. The lid of the container is permanently attached and slides over the rear when opened. The EP 430 has a volume of 40 litres.

The EP 430 collector stand with its stainless steel chassis is used in large and small kitchens in a general catering context. The solution is simple, flexible and functional and lightens the work load of staff.

Our waste coolers are mini refrigeration rooms, designed first and foremost for the storage of organic waste. Intru-sive odours and pests are kept away, and the waste cooler ensures good hygiene in the work place, fully in line with the relevant EHS requirements. Official requirements governing cooling are 1–5°C. The cooling unit used ensures a maximum temperature of 5°C. Waste coolers are a vital product for convenience stores, professional kitchens, schools and other establishments that handle organic waste.

A cooler with 1 and 2 cabinets is suitable for 140/240 L standard waste containers, which are brought to it and taken away individually. A unit with three cabinets is suitable for 3 x 140 L containers. The doors are fitted with a button lock and magnetic strips. The lid comes supplied with a gas damper. The waste cooler comes supplied with a separate cooler unit in standard washable steel, 40 mm polyurethane. Cabinets can also be supplied in stainless steel.

Ozone generators are often used to remove air from pumping stations, containers and compactors, for instance, and to control the atmosphere in refrigeration and cold storage areas. EnviroGlobal offers good solutions from leading producers.

We can supply three models. The PR1300 and MAS90 are often used together with compressors and waste solutions. But they are also used in restaurants, cold storage areas, warehouses and offices. These two models can be wall-mounted, placed on shelving or similar. The HV-202 model is a mini version intended primarily for vehicle interiors, but it can also be used for smaller areas that require air purification.

What is ozone?Ozone is nature’s own oxidation and disinfect-ion agent. It is 3125 times faster-acting and 52 % stronger than chlorine. Ozone is produced on the spot; no purchasing or storage of chemicals is needed. If used properly with the right equipment, ozone is harmless. It is however important to remember that ozone is a reactive compound which can be harmful in high concentrations.

Remember:Do not inhale concentrated ozone gas and follow the standards and regulations of the Authority for EHS.

PR1300The PR1300 is our most popular model. It is often used to remove odours from compactors and waste rooms. In short, wherever there is a need to remove bad odours, the PR1300 is the perfect resource. The model has an integrated automatic timer.The PR1300 is very economic in operation, with power consumption of only 65 watts. It is easy to install, and regular maintenance is not necessary. On a compactor, the PR1300 is generally fitted near the openingwhere the items to be compacted are thrown in. It can also be integrated in a heavy-duty waste container, but this must be ordered together with the compactor from the factory.

MAS90The MAS90 is a portable ozone generator. It is a professional tool designed for professional users. This powerful generator will remove even the most difficult odours from cold storage areas, warehouses, offices, hotel rooms, and restaurants, etc. Just plug it into the mains, and the generator does the job.

HV-202The HV-202 is ideal as an air cleaner in a car. The air is effectively cleaned, and it removes odours from smoke, pets and other sources of unwanted smells. You will almost be able to sense that “mountain air”! Eliminates bacteria in the odours, creating a healthy environment. The HV-202 is incredibly small and neat, at only approximately 155 x 63 x 106 mm.

The compactors are mobile and 100% liquid proof. A locking mechanism for the rear door along with a heavy rubber seal prevents liquid from seeping through. A special gasket and the press plate design prevent waste from entering the cylinder area so issues such as frost problems are avoided. Designed to cope with larger amounts of wet organic waste this machine is used by grocery stores, fruit and vegetable warehouses, meat producers, restaurants, hospitals, hotels, etc.
