A New YearThe new year is here at last.I’ll try to make it better than the one just past.

I will try to finish up some UFO’sAnd slow the rate at which my stash grows.

I will learn at least one new techniqueAnd work on skills which I know are weak.

My responsibilities I’ll do my best to fulfillAnd try my hardest to spread good will.

I hope through some of the steps I takeMore friends in the guild this year I’ll make.

By setting goals that are positive and clearI’m sure I’ll have a successful year.

Board Meeting MinutesTuesday, January 10, 2012Pam Taylor called the Board meeting to order at 6:00p.m. in the Activity Room at the Community Center. It was moved, seconded and passed that theDecember Board Meeting Minutes be accepted asprinted in the newsletter.

New BusinessHelen Hardwick commented that the guild receivedbig thank yous from the City of Folsom, Santa Elves, for the guild’s December clothing and food donations.Pam Burke: Zephyr retreat is scheduled for May 13-18, 2012, Sunday thru Friday. Zephyr application iscoming up in February newsletter. The price hasgone up $1.00/night/person and meals are around$10. We are going to have to raise Zephyr’s fee to$375/person to cover incidentals and the increasesmentioned. There were some comments from peoplewho did not like the mad rush to get a worktable.Suggestion is to put layout on the website andapplication. Fall Zephyr is scheduled for September9-14 and again the price is $375. 14 rooms and 30people. We actually do 15 rooms because we don’talways have 3 in a room. Sign ups in June newsletter.Eileen Crawford, President-Elect, reminds us to startputting together a nomination committee. Presidentis in charge of appointing committee from generalmembership. We checked the bylaws and decided tolook for two board and two non-board volunteers.Donna Brennan announced that the 48 Natomaexhibit is up. Helen Hardwick set up a display ofminiature quilts in the El Dorado Hills library entry.Committee ReportsSharon Pierce, Treasurer Report: Monthly budgetreport was distributed. Thank you notes werereceived from three of the entities we donated to:Folsom History Museum, Snowline Hospice andPowerhouse Ministries. In December we received$1,300 from quilt show quilt judging entry fees. Andanother $500 was received from Opportunity Quiltticket sales. Eileen asked about our donation to theFolsom Community Center as we have to close thebooks for the quilt show a month after the show.Helen Hardwick said the Community Center wassupposed to have redone the paneling but that was

stopped because of the City’s budget cuts. SherryHammer will talk to the Community Center about thedonation.Sherry Hammer, Quilt Show Chair: Letters arebeing distributed to members confirming what youhave entered in the show and preview party passes. Our final meeting is scheduled for Thursday, January26th from 6-8 p.m. at Round Table Folsom onBidwell. There are 209 quilts entered; 146 judged.Last year Folsom Community Center did not get ourupdated insurance card; we need current card ofinsurance on file with the center. Sharon Pierce willmake a copy and get it to Sherry ASAP. Program togo to the printer soon. Some members still need topick up their raffle tickets. We are $1,000 ahead fromlast year with raffle ticket sales.Jenny Lyon, Program Chair-Elect: We can’t holdworkshops at Meissner’s anymore because they havea scheduling conflict. It costs the guild $75 for use ofCommunity Center. If we consider a new place it hasto accommodate irons, plugs, space and be in Folsom.Helen reminded us that workshops break-even; theguild should not subsidize the workshop becauseonly some are participating. Jenny and co-chairs donot feel that we should charge anything over $40.Helen suggested that unless we get a more suitableplace that is less expensive, then Folsom CommunityCenter is the guild’s place for workshops.Helen Hardwick, Membership: We have 13 peopleon the waiting list.Derald Langwell, Property: Getting a goodinventory on a lot of stuff in storage unit. He willfinish inventory when it is partially emptied duringshow.
