For all who attended or supported the Second Annual Sisterhood of Salaam Shalom’s Women's Leadership Conference held on December 6, 2015, we salute you as wagersof peace. As the first nationwide organization of Muslim and Jewish women, we of the

Sisterhood proudly welcomed women from throughout the US and from as far away as

Europe and the Middle East. We were 350 strong voices coming together to learn withand from each other. With your help we together can change the world one Muslim

and one Jewish woman at a time.

In the words of our participants, !it was a transformative experience which gave methe confidence and motivation to return home and inspire others to work for peace and

social justice in our community. 

While there were many teachings that we learned yesterday, we believe that a few stand

out as integral to our efforts. Please affirm these messages in your communities so thatour voices may echo with the hope and knowledge that inspires our work.

The mission of the Sisterhood of Salaam Shalom is to build trust, respect and

relationships with one another and to eradicate acts of anti-Muslim and anti-Jewish sentiment.

Muslim and Jewish sisters hear and learn from each other with open hearts and

open minds. We proclaim and promote our shared values.

We acknowledge that our Muslim and Jewish traditions have been in

conversation for over 1400 years and through the Sisterhood we continue thisdialogue.

As Muslim and Jewish women, we stand hand in hand to wage peace and

bring our Sisterhood mission to communities throughout the U.S. 

 At the conference, many women asked how they could support the Sisterhood. We

need your help with the following outreach and support:

•  Continued participation in our local chapters;

•  Leaders who are willing to facilitate the development of new chapters;

•  Continued postings on our Facebook community with information from each ofour communities;

•  Referencing the work of the Sisterhood on all social media sites; and

•  Help with raising the funds necessary to continue our work, including

o  support further chapter development,o  develop a curriculum to teach and train young women to become wagers of

peace,

o  enable other grass roots initiatives for peace and

o  finance regional, national and international missions to expand our work

throughout the US and beyond.
