We wish: • For an end to violence in the world. • That all children have a home and food. • That we can grow up happy and receive an education, so we can get every chance to reach our dreams. • That the La Palma volcano ends as son as possible. Warmest wishes for a happy holiday season and a wonderful New Year. May all your wishes comes true. With lots of love, your Spanish friends.

We are pupils of the C.E.I.P Virrey delPino school. Our school is located inBaena, Córdoba. Baena is a small andbeautiful town. It is famous for its extravirgin olive oil, for its archaeologicalremains and, above all, for its HolyWeek.

Our school is small, with about 220pupils, but together we form a bigfamily. Around Christmas time, wedecorate the classrooms, corridors andplaygrounds with ornaments we havemade ourselves, always under theguidance of our teachers. We do manyactivities during these days: we singChristmas carols, we have Christmascard contests, we put on theatre playsand we dress up in costumes.

Our Christmas is very joyful and family-oriented. In our houses we decorate the

halls, corridors and bedrooms. Ourfavourite thing is to put up the Nativity

Scene (“Belén” in Spanish), whichrepresents the birth of Jesus. We also put

up the Christmas tree decorated withcoloured lights and ornaments that we

can buy or make ourselves. During thesedays we gather at home with our familiesand eat delicious food, but the best thingis always the desserts. The most typicalChristmas desserts in Spain are nougat

and polvorones (a sort of shortbreadcookie, it’s delicious!).

The day we like most is the 6th ofJanuary, when the Three Wise Men

(“los Reyes Magos” in Spanish)leave us lots of presents under thetree and so we put an end to this

lovely time.
