  • PLANETSA planet is a celes,al body that:Orbits a star or remnant of her.It has sucient mass for its gravity to overcome rigid body forces so that it assumes a hydrosta,c equilibrium shape (almost spherical). It has cleared the neighborhood around its orbit of planetesimals,The solar system has eight planets: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. The Sun

The sun is a star, a hot ball of glowing gases at the heart of our solar system. The sun is the center of our solar system and makes up 99.8% of the mass of the en,re solar system. The temperature at the sun's core is about 15 million degrees Celsius (27 million degrees Fahrenheit).

AsteroidsAn asteroid is a large rock in outer space. Some, like Ceres, can be very large, while others are as small as a grain of sand.

CometsComets are cosmic snowballs of frozen gases, rock and dust roughly the size of a small town.

    What is the solar system?

The Solar System is made up of all the planets that orbit our Sun. In addi,on

to planets, the Solar System also consists of moons, comets, asteroids,

minor planets, and dust and gas.Our solar system is located in an outward spiral of the Milky Way

galaxy. Our solar system formed about 4.6 billion years ago
