HOW TO SIZE YOURKITCHEN VENTILATION SYSTEM Before choosing your kitchen ventilation fan check with your local residential codes and the range manufacturer’s recommendations. If range manufacturer’s recommendations are not available, use the information at right to calculate the fan size.

These recommendations follow the guidelines of the Home Ventilating Institute (HVI).

KITCHEN VENTILATION SOLUTIONS

Today’s kitchens have become much more than a place for cooking and food preparation. The kitchen is the heart of the home. It’s the center of activity for the entire family as well as the ideal place to congregate for informal entertaining.

The Fantech 3-part exhaust system includes a powerful exhaust fan that mounts away from the living area; an inline silencer to minimize noise; and a hood liner that fits beautifully in your custom hood design.

Wall Mount Installations: 100 CFM per foot of width.

Example: 36” (3 ft.) wide hood will require 300 CFM.

Feet of Width 3 CFM per Foot x 100 Air Flow [CFM] 300

Island Mount Installations: 150 CFM per foot of width.

Example: 36” (3 ft.) wide hood will require 450 CFM.

Feet of Width 3 CFM per Foot x 150 Air Flow [CFM] 450

Note: When using a gas cooktop or range, it is recommended that the hood liner be 6” wider than the cooktop.
