Charles Eames, the iconic furniture designer once said “The details are not the details, they make the design”. This is a far more succinct way of defining Folk’s collections and design ethos than we could ever come up with. Folk is not a brand that is inspired by vintage clothing, a specific period in history or a particular muse and our designs do not try and re-create

the wheel in terms of shapes and silhouettes. The design focus is on the combination of the quality of the fabrics and their fabrications, not being scared of using colour and our obsession with the minutiae of detail.

It is perhaps the small design touches that the brand has become best known for and each collection works into

old designs to improve them in addition to constantly expanding and experimenting with new styles, fabrics, colours and details to maintain our innovative reputation.

“The details are not the details, they make the design”Charles Eames

LIBERTYSHOP IN SHOP

“Folk has fast become a key brand within the Liberty brand mix, one of very few selected brands to trade from a personalised space in store due to the strong brand asthetic through product and the standalone self named store on Lambs Conduit Street. Folk’s strong identity using subtle yet effective design features appeals to the purist Liberty customer. I think the fusion between a heritage brand as Liberty and one of the most promising home grown Casualwear brands such as Folk is perfect.”

STORES

Folk has four stand alone stores in London. The first Folk store was opened in March 2007 in one of London’s last bastions of independent shopping - Lambs Conduit Street, in Bloomsbury.

A further store was opened in the Truman Brewery in the popluar East end of London in November 2009 and in August 2010 a dedicated womens space was opened next to the original store on Lambs Conduit Street allowing the first store to expand to display the increased menswear collection.

A fourth store was opened in Shepherd Street in Mayfair in August 2011. Folk also has a store in Munich, Germany.

Folk won the award for best Fashion shop in the UK in the 2009 Telegraph Shop Awards.

Folk started to create its mens and womens footwear collections in 2004 with the same ethos as the clothing range. The focus is on innovative design and material selection with much of the collection using veg tanned leathers which, although more expensive create arichness and texture not found in the more commonly used chrome dyed leather. The shoes are all hand made in a 60 year old family run factory in the north of Portugal which produces small production runs ensuring that the quality levels remain high.
