WHAT IS THE EXPLORER PROGRAM?
The Explorer Program is a volunteer organiza-
tion that is a division of the Boy Scouts of Amer-
ica. The mission is to provide first-hand experi-
ence in law enforcement and related areas of the
criminal justice system, to our young adults.
The program also develops leadership and ma-
ture judgement through training and teamwork,
and provides support and assistance to the com-
munity through various programs and projects.
PURPOSE
Build Character
Develop Leadership Skills
Develop Individual Potential
Gain Appreciation for Community Service
Develop an awareness of the purpose, mission and
objectives of law enforcement.

Members are referred to as “Explorer” and
while the program is part of the Boy Scouts
of America, the Explorer program is distinc-
tively different from scouting. The Explorer
Program is a co-educational, young-adult
program developed and supervised by local
community organizations, businesses and
individuals providing an opportunity for
young adults to explore a particular career
field. The Foley Police Department program
is the oldest Explorer Post in the State of
Alabama!
