Doyouwishtodecoratearoomwithsomethingtraditionalandbeautiful?

Whilemanykindsoforigamiflowersexist,aKawasakiRoseisaninnovativeorigamirosecreatedbyamannamedToshikazuKawasaki.Theroseisaseamlessflowerwhosepedalsappeartoactuallycurloutfromthecenteroftheflower.

Theprojectisfairlylengthy(~50minutes).Butnoworries!Youcanstopandtakeabreakatnearlyanypointandresumeatyourleisure.Sincethisisorigamiwearetalkingabout,thefoldswillstaywheretheyare.

Should I Use Origami Paper?Origamipaperishighlyrecommendedforanyorigamiproject,especiallythisone.Origamipaperiseasiertofold,andretainscreasesbetterthanregularphotocopierpaper.Origamipaperisinexpensive(around$5for50sheetsof6x6)andcanbefoundeasilyinyourlocalcraftsstore,orinonlinelocationssuchasAmazon.com.

FortheKawasakirose,Irecommendsquareorigamipaper(kamistyle)thathasasolidcoloronasingleside.Thereisanoptionalrosebasethatcanbedonefortherose(instructionsforthebasenotincluded,refertotheAmbitious?Section)Ifyouwishtomakeabasewithacolorthatisdifferentfromtherose,youshouldpurchaseapackagethatcontainsmultiplecolorsorpatternstochoosefrom.

Forthissetofinstructions,Iused6by6origamipaperfortherose.Thismakesadecentsizedrosethatisroughlythesizeofarealrose.Ifyouwanttomakealargerrose,youcanuseupto10by10origamiwiththesameinstructionswithnoproblems.

What You Will Need One6x6origamipaper(kamistyle) Aflatsurfacetofoldon

How to Follow The Instructions Thecoloredsidemeansthesidethatyouwanttheoutsideofyourrosetobe.Thissidewillbethecolorofyourrose.Thewhitesidewillbethesidethatwillbehiddenontheinsideoftherose.Youmaynothaveawhitesideoracoloredsideforyourpaper,butthisishowIwillrefertothemintheseinstructions.

Ifyouareusingapaperthatisthesameonbothsides,pleasemarkeachsidesoyouknowwhichsideiscoloredandwhichsideiswhite.

Adashedlineisamountainfold,thatis,afoldthatispointinguptowardsyou.Adottedlineisavalleyfold,thatis,afoldthatispointingawayfromyou.Thesenotationswillonlyoccurwhenitisimportant,suchastomarknewfolds.

Themeasurementlineiswhereyourfoldshouldbeginandend.Stopwherethearrowstops!Somefoldscanonlybefoldedtoacertainpointinthemiddleofthepaper.

How to Make a Fold1. Makesureyourworkareaisflatandclean.2. Carefullymakethefold,asexactaspossible,andsmoothovergentlywithfingers.

Yourcreaseshouldbelight.Applyingtoomuchforceatthispointmay

resultinacrookedfold,orevenworse,atear.

3. Ifpossible,smoothoverthefoldagainwithfingernailsorfingertips.Intheend,youwantafoldthatiscrisp.
