Honorable J. w. Pehle· Executive Director · War Refugee Board Washington 25, D. c.

I~· dear Mr. Pehle:

Reference is made to the visa !JeHHon-eiecutedby Mr. Sidney Itzkowitiz., 1729 ~ 67th Street, Brook1Jn• New York, in behalf of his mother, Hannah Itzkowitz, whose last known addre~s was Bereg Koveat 1 Hungary.

The records of this office show that on ·December 287

1938, a petition for issuance of immigration visa, submitted by Mr. Sidney Itzkowitzvfn behalf of his mother. Hannah Itzkowitz, was approved and forwarded to the Department of State on February 2, 1939, for transmittal to the American consul nearest the place of residence of hie mother which was then given as Kivyasda, Zupa Bereg, Czechoslovakia. The petitioner. indicates on the first petition that his mother was born in Ivyasda, Czechoslovakia, in November 1880, and on the recent petition that she was born in Komlosh, Hungary.

The visa petition recently submitted. by Mr. Sidney Itzkowitz does not show that his mother has been in the United States subsequent to the approval of the previous petition given on December 28, 1938. Therefore, the approval is still outstanding and no action is necessary on the present

.Petttion. ·

./ ·- - -Reference is made to the desire of· TilUe--XiJek~--formerly Leh~, nee Cohn, to bring to the Unitsd States her husband, Fajwel Kijek, whose last known address is w. Lomzyca. 55, Lomza, Poland.

The records of this office show that on February 13, 1939 an r.pproved petition for issuance of immigration visa submitted by Mrs. Tillie Kijek in behalf of her husband, Icek-Fajba Kijek, was forwarded to the Department of State for transmittal to the appropriate United States consulate in Pola.nd. Mr. Kijek 1s address at that time was given as Lomzyca przy Lomzy, Poland.

The new petition executed by Mrs. Kijek on November 16, 1944 does not indicate that her husband has been in the United States subsequent to the approval of the previous petition given on July 1, 1940; therefore, the authorization appears to be outstanding and no action has been taken on the present petition.

A copy of the letter of this office to Mrs. Kijek is attached. A copy of this letter is being furnished the Department of State.
