HyTight Assembly
Cleanability first – this is the guidelinefor the design of the LESER CleanService Safety Valves. Series 48X pro-vides an optimum of cleanability. Thefollowing design features represent theultimate solution for all critical cleanservice applications.
HyTight stands for Hygienic andTightness.
HyTight AssemblyThe aseptic O-ring disc is the “heart” ofthe series 48X. This unique design provides for the firsttime a really cleanable in- and outlet ofa safety valve:
The O-ring sealing provides superiortightness. The elastomer bellows protects thehard-to-clean parts in the guidingand bonnet area against contamina-tion. Please note: An elastomer bellows isnot back pressure compensatinglike a stainless steel bellows. All fixing elements like screws andnuts are placed inside of the bel-lows. Crevice free internals, rinsed O-ringsand FDA compliant elastomersinsure there are no bacteria traps.

Clean Service Safety Relief ValvesLow dead space
Low dead space
The dead space ratio is defined by ratioof the length of the inlet (L) to the dia-meter of the inlet pipe (D). The clean-ability is improved as this ratio isreduced.
Types 481, 483 and 488 are improvedsolutions for safety valves with Tri-Clamp® connections, and have L / Dratios less than 1.5 and 2.0 (Type 488).The requirements of ASME BPE 2002Part SD - 3.11.1 (L / D < 2.0) and FDA 21CFR Part 177.2600 (L / D < 1.5) are ful-filled with these designs.
For some applications especially in thepharmaceutical industry the require-ments are even higher. The solution forthese particularly high purity require-ments is Type 484 or Type 485 withspecial connections to the vessel orthe piping, providing L / D ratios as lowas 0.3.
Dead space Type 483, L / D ~ 1.5
Dead space Type 488, L / D ~ 2.0
Dead space Type 484, L / D ~ 0.3

The surface quality, especially areas incontact with product, greatly influen-ces the cleanability of the safety valve.
The ASME BPE-2002, -a- 2003, -a- 2004(Bioprocessing Equipment) states forcleanability:SD-3.1.1: ● All surfaces shall be cleanable.● Surface imperfections (e.g., crevices,
gouges, abvious pits, etc.) shall beeliminated whenever feasible.
To ensure that ASME BPE-2002,-a- 2003, -a- 2004 requirements arefulfilled, no castings are used in theLESER Clean Service series.High surface quality is achieved bymachining most valve bodies and allinternal parts from high quality barmaterial.

Clean Service Safety Relief Valves Lift Indicator
Series 48X
16
Lift indicators are a useful device forautomation. They are used to monitoroperating status. To detect lifting, LESER provides twodesigns incorporating a proximity switch:one with the proximity switch in the liftingdevice and the other with the proximityswitch in the bonnet (see drawingsbelow). The lift indicator will indicate a valve lift ofmore than 0.04 inch (1mm) due to over-pressure or operation of the lifting device.
LESER provides DC proximity switchestype “N” using two-wire technology. These intrinsically safe proximity swit-ches can be used in explosion hazardarea zone 0.
Other types of proximity switches maybe used. If a technical specification issupplied along with the type of con-nection thread LESER can verify com-patibility.
