The event will be held at the Marriott Wardman Park inWashington, DC.

Participants in the 2011 Members Only Capitol Hill Meeting will receive a $100 discount off the registration price for the 19th Annual Convention, being held Friday,April 15 to Sunday, April 17, 2011–immediately following the Capitol Hill Meeting.

You will receive your Convention discount code by email AFTER completing your registration for the 2011 Members Only Capitol Hill Meeting.

How many times have you heard or read something about bankruptcy that you know to be patently false based on the

circumstances of the clients you represent?:“It’s time to promote responsible borrowing. Bankruptcy was not intended to be aconvenient financial planning tool where deadbeats can get out of paying their debt scot-free while honest Americans who play by the rules have to foot the bill.”

“It's a myth that people filing bankruptcy with big credit card debt are poor. I don't believe being poor automatically makes a person a victim. There's a boom in bankruptcy due to a lack of responsibility, more than lack of income.”

Powerful financial interests dominate the important policy debates that take place inWashington and this, is the kind of message they deliver to lawmakers. When you hear this don’t you want to set the record straight? NACBA’s Capitol Hill Meeting is our chance to bring a different perspective to Washington–to be the voice for those millions of Americans who aren’t getting 6 or 7 figure bonuses, but instead are feelingthe crush of the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression. We bear witness every day to the damage to families facing lost jobs, overwhelming medicalbills, and the absence of meaningful relief from the wave of home foreclosures sweeping across the country.

The 2011 Members Only Capitol Hill Meeting is an opportunity for NACBA membersto tell the stories of their clients and to educate the many new Members of Congressabout the role bankruptcy plays in helping these financially devastated families getback on their feet.

This year, not only is this year’s Capitol Hill Meeting being held in conjunction withour Annual Convention for the first time, but it also marks the launch of a moreaggressive program that for the first time in NACBA’s history will provide dedicatedresources and personnel to train and deploy a grassroots network of NACBA memberswilling to serve as “ambassadors” to their congressional delegations. This is an excitingnew program that will give you all the tools and training you need–on a continuingbasis–to be an effective advocate on behalf of bankruptcy laws that serve the needs of financially devastated families.

The Convention Hotel does not provide shuttle service.

“NACBA's Capitol Hill Meetings have been the most rewarding hands-on educational experiences of my career. For over a decade, with NACBA, I've been privileged to be

exposed to the inner workings of the Capitol. The camaraderie with other NACBA members and

staff, and the realization that we can and do makea difference – make NACBA's Capitol Hill

Meeting an event not to be missed!”

John Colwell, San Diego, CA

The focus of this year’s Members Only Capitol Hill Meetingwill be on building relationships with elected officials. The economic downturn has forced many elected officials to take a hard look at the programs and policies that helpAmericans cope with the loss of income and mounting debt.We know that bankruptcy is a crucial last resort for financially devastated families that have no other option. This is your opportunity to help your congressional delegation understand that. Don’t miss it!
