    Section 1: Changes this Year

    1.1 Processing Changes

    New Deadline Dates- All applications must be submitted by July 17, 2009 to guarantee your loanis approved before classes start. For all other deadlines, please see Section 12.

    Canada Student Grant Programs: The Canada Access and Canada Study Grants have beenreplaced by these seven Canada Student Grants:

    Students From Low Income Families

    Students From Middle Income Families

    Students With Permanent Disabilities

    Special Services and Equipment for Students With Permanent Disabilities

    Students With Dependents

    High-Need Part-Time Students

    Part-Time Students With Dependents

    Millennium PEI Access Grant and Millennium Scholarship Foundation Bursary: Thesefederal programs will not be available for the 2009 - 2010 loan year. Last year (2008 - 2009) wasthe last year for this program.

    Section 2: Before You Apply

    2.1 How Will I Pay for My Education?

    Post secondary education is a big investment! It is important that you plan ahthat you are able finance your program of choice.

    If you have been wondering how you will pay for your post-secondary edaware of all of your options.

    A student loan is just one of the many choices to consider when you are decidprogram. It is a good idea to explore other financial opportunities such as emscholarships to minimize your debt load.

    Some of these other options may include the follow ing:

    Existing funds/personal savings

    Family contributions

    Registered Education Savings Plan(RESP)

    Jobs - full/part-time work

    Bursaries and scholarships

    Co-op Programs

    Bank loans

    Employment Insurance benefits and/or

    training allowances

    Pension benefits (including CanadaPension and Superannuation)

    Assets/investments (stocks, bonds, GICs, RRSPs, etc.)
