The deal strengthens the know-how and expertise of Akzo’s packaging coatings business. Lindgens produces and markets Lindgens system solutions for paints and coatings for the metal packaging industry. The company has sales of 25 M. It is expected to accommodate all of the firm’s centres of expertise such as automotive, IT, domestic appliance, furniture, architectural, and general industrial, including their respective marketing staff. Additionally, AkzoNobel purchased in 2009 Dow Chemical Co’s powder coatings business, which employs roughly 700 people and runs factories in China, Europe, and the USA. The product features a ‘watertight’ protection technology that shields the pigment from chemicals and other environmental hazards. Conventional metallic finishes use either mica pigments, which are durable but not quite brilliant, or aluminium pigments, which need another layer of topcoat for protection.
