Bus Trips And EventsBus trips, classes and special events registration is ongoing and begins immediately upon receiving the newsletter. You may call 281-425-6311 and use a credit card or come into our offices at 909 Decker Drive and pay by cash, check or credit card. Bus trips are filled on a first come first filled basis. If filled, there will always be a waiting list and you will be called if a cancellation occurs. The buses will depart from the Center for Workforce & Community Development 909 Decker Drive parking lot for ALL bus trips.

International Quilt Festival and Downtown Houston TunnelsOctober 29

This International extravaganza of beautiful quilt creations is back in Houston for its annual showcase! Dress comfortably for the full morning of strolling through the exhibits, then we will travel over to the entrance of the Houston Tunnel system and find lunch down under the streets of Houston. The bus will depart the parking lot at 9:15 am and return mid afternoon. Trip fee is $17.

Senior Night at Lee College Volleyball October 29

You are invited at 5 pm to join us for a light dinner and then to Cheer on the Lady Rebel Volleyball team at their last home game vs Victoria Community College!! Free invite, but you must register by calling 281-425-6311 now.

AARP DRIVER SAFETY CLASSNOVEMBER 3 Back by popular demand! This class will satisfy all Texas State insurance requirements for a discount, but cannot be used for a traffic violation. Payment must be by check or money order payable to AARP. $15 AAP members. $20 for non members. Class is 8:30-12:30 pm in the LC Student Center Bayer Conference room.

Wetlands Center Class and Baytown Nature Center Tour November 4 Today we will meet at the Eddie Gray Wetlands Center at Market Street (across from Robert E. Lee High School) for a very special program and tour! View the exhibits, see the alligators, learn how both Chevron and Bayer have joined this facility in education the school youth in our district. Then it’s on to the Nature Center by carpool or caravanning and lunch in the Pavillion before a guided tour. No fee for tours, $12 for lunch.

Veteran’s Day Celebration and 4th Anniversary of Lee College Veteran’s CenterNovember 10

The public is invited to join our Lee College Veteran’s Day and 4th Anniversary of the Veteran’s Center Office Celebration from 10 am – noon in the Lee College Rundell Hall Conference Center.We will be celebrating and honoring all veterans in attendance. There will be entertainment and refreshments will be served. The event is free but reservations are appreciated and should be called to 832-556-4302.

Afternoon Tour and Tasting at Budweiser Distributing November 11

Join us at Baytown Wismer Distributing at 600 S Main St Baytown from 2-4 pm where the owners have invited us to enjoy an informational tour, then relax in their community room for complimentary beer tastings and snacks. No fee, but registration as usual at 281-425-6311. We will see you there!

Red Hat Scarlett Ya Yas Christmas High Tea and Style ShowDecember 1 This special afternoon from 2-4 pm will take place in the lovely Phyllis Davis room of the 909 Decker Drive Bdlg. Imagine being in England and served by the Queen’s staff delicious finger sandwiches, sweets and tea! Dress up attire expected! Lots of parking is available right outside the door and all around the building. No fee, this afternoon will be a Christmas gift to you!

Christmas Mystery Trip December 2

Dress comfortably, have a sweater, and we will have a fun day! Those are the only clues you get! The bus will leave the parking lot at 9:15 am and return late afternoon. The trip fee of $35 includes tour, transportation, lunch and a surprise or two.

“History in Your Own Backyard with John Britt” Destination Galveston!January 8

We will begin our island adventure by visiting the newly opened Bryan Museum, a collection of over 2,500 years of history in the Southwestern US is housed in this beautiful old building located between Broadway and the SeaWall. After lunch (dutch treat) we will have a private tour of the Rosenberg Library, the oldest public Library in Texas in continuous operation by one of its archivists. The bus will depart the parking lot at 8:30 am, returning late afternoon. Trip fee is $25.

Theatre Under the Stars “Bridges of Madison County” January 19 “The Bridges of Madison County” one of the most romantic stories ever written , first captured the nation’s attention as a best- selling novel and now a two time Tony Award winning Broadway musical! It is an unforgettable story of two people caught between decision and desire, as a chance encounter becomes a second chance at so much more.

The bus will leave the parking lot at 4:45 pm to travel into downtown Houston for dinner (dutch treat). Trip fee of $45 includes great show tickets and transportation.

A.D. Production of “Barefoot In The Park”January 28 This theatre company founded by Jeannette Clift George and one of Houston’s largest resident theatre companies is committed to producing only plays that uphold human value, offer creativity and promote education. Neil Simon’s most successful romantic comedy, Barefoot in the Park, introduces blissful newlyweds, Paul and Corie. With comedic insight into the ups and downs of marriage. A delightful evening guaranteed! The bus will leave the parking lot at 4:30 for dinner (dutch treat) in the Galleria area and then on to the 7:30 pm show. Trip fee for show and transportation is $36.

Did you know...... the Lee College Scarlett YaYas Red Hat Society is a national “charter chapter”? There are over 100 ladies in the group. An Advisory Council of women helps lead the group through planning, hosting and staging monthly luncheons at area restaurants and events on the College campus.
