I actually just downloaded the latest practice guide off of The IIA’s New Guidance section, “Assessing the Risk Management Process”. You can also download the New 2019 North American Pulse of Internal Audit for free. Did you know that this year The IIA’s International Conference will be in sunny, Southern California at the Anaheim Convention Center, over the dates of July 7-10? Time is running out to take advantage of the $200 discount for registering early as a member. So register by April 6 to ensure your seat at this year’s event! Your discounted fee includes access to all general and concurrent sessions, the opportunity to earn up to 17.4 CPEs, entrance to the exhibit hall and admittance to the welcome reception on Monday and beach party on Tuesday! We have two great meetings coming up in April so make sure to read the newsletter for more information on those upcoming training opportunities. What Else is Inside? St. Louis IIA Members - It’s April and I am hoping that means Spring weather is finally here. As I write this message, it’s the day after our 9th Annual Multi-Track Event. What a great event! I do hope you were able to attend, network a little and gather some great information to take back with you to your organizations. I really enjoyed the day. I want to SHOUT out a BIG THANK YOU to our Multi-Track Committee members (both IIA and ACFE) as well as a special thank you to our Multi-Track Chair, Kelly Sendelbeck. This event is a success because of you all. To continue the theme this year on using the standards to strengthen our foundations, I have selected Performance Standard 2130 – Control. The Internal Audit activity must assist the organization in maintaining effective controls by evaluating their effectiveness and efficiency and by promoting continuous improvement. I believe this is a must of Internal Audit and especially the piece on continuous improvement. Chapter Achievement Program (CAP) CAP is the acronym for Chapter Achievement Program. The program has been established on the premise that the basic mission of the chapter is to serve its members first and then the internal audit profession. The program, sponsored by the International IIA, encourages local chapters to be active both for the benefit of the chapter members and of the local community. Local chapters earn credits for the CAP through in the following categories: a) service to members; b) service to the profession, and c) chapter administration. The Chapter Achievement Program is made up of three performance levels: bronze (685 credits), silver (1,060 credits), and gold (1,560 credits). Thanks to your efforts, our chapter has attained gold status every year since 1997. After ten consecutive years of achieving gold, a chapter achieves Platinum level which this chapter has earned since 2006. So what can a member do to earn CAP points for the chapter? Examples, include:

Attend the monthly chapter meetings; Attend chapter sponsored seminars; Utilize the chapter sponsored Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) review course; Earn an IIA certification; Develop questions for the CIA exam; Recruit new members; Present speeches or training sessions; Write internal audit-related articles for publication; Provide an internal audit internship at your company for a student; and Come up with an innovative way to promote the chapter

So, it's easy to contribute and it doesn't take too much of an effort. You can report CAP activity on the chapter website or directly to the CAP Chairperson Brent Statler at [email protected].
