Oak Island received this recognition because of ATMC’s $12.5 million dollar investment which provided more than 7,000 homes and businesses with access to Gigabit broadband speeds over a fiber optic connection. “The Town of Oak Island is thrilled that ATMC has made this investment in our community,” commented Mayor Cin Brochure. “We know that our residents and businesses will benefit greatly from the high speed internet provided by ATMC.” In addition to Oak Island, ATMC recognized Ocean Isle Beach and Shallotte with the Smart Rural Community designation and will soon do the same for Holden Beach, Calabash and Seaside. ATMC CONNECTING YOU

Faster Speeds Available in Town Creek and Winnabow As part of Project 2019, faster internet with speeds of up to 300Mbps is now available to residents in Town Creek and Winnabow. Areas in the nearby communities of Mill Creek and Funston will have access to faster speeds in the coming weeks and work is already underway to upgrade the communities of Exum, Kingtown, Thomasboro and Hickman’s Crossroads. “Most customers living within the Project 2019 upgraded areas have already moved away from the older copper network that had been used to provide phone and internet service. They wanted to take advantage of faster internet speeds,” said ATMC CEO Keith Holden.

“Copper is not capable of delivering the type of service that today’s customers demand, that’s why ATMC has begun the process of converting customers to newer technology where it is available and retiring the dated copper network,” added Holden. To find out if faster internet service is already available at your location, visit www.atmc.com/project2019 or call customer care at 910-754-4311.

Fiber Optics Coming for Seaside Businesses Seaside businesses located along Beach Drive between Ocean Isle Beach and Sunset Beach will soon be able to benefit from ATMC’s fiber optic network with speeds of up to 1Gig. Business customers in this area will benefit from fiber optics low latency streaming that makes online collaboration and data services fast and reliable. Because fiber optics allow for quicker upload and download speeds it is ideal for cloud based applications and point of sale transactions. ATMC crews are expected to complete construction of the fiber optic network by the end of this year. Other businesses along the Ocean Isle Beach Causeway also recently received access to ATMC’s fiber optic network. As ATMC completes the upgrades in these areas, businesses will be asked to convert over to the new network. For more information, or to find out when fiber optic speeds will be available for your business, visit www.iwantatmc.com.
