Caution: Do not disengageuntil gun is free of pressure.

Amount of lubricant. On sutts u,ith apressure.gritrg?, pump lubricant into the valveas long as the pressure rises and the valvetakes lubricant. When the valve is full. thepressure will cause a drop reading on thegauge.

If no gauge is used, the lubricant beginspumping l reer. Stop rhe pumping andiurnthe valve to check operation, if possible.

Lubrication cycles. The amount ofIubricant varies greatly depending on howoften the valve is opened and closed. Lesslubricant in the seating area is lost whenvalves remain open. Constant opening andclosing may require more frequentlubr icat ion.

If a lubrication cycle is regularlyscheduled, valves will work better andseating surfaces will be preserved longer,preventing leakage.

The Delta 1699-09 high pressurehydraulic hand gun has earned aworldwide reputation in pipeline,refinery and chemical plant service.

Its dependability, ease of operationand rugged construction have made itthe standard for over half-a-century.

Its l ight weight (15 pounds) andability to stand the rigors of fieldoperation are appreciated by mainte-nance people from the desert to thearctic. It uses "J" stick of valvelubricants and injectable packings.

In operation the hydraulic fluid ispumped into the space behind thepiston, which in tum drives the free-moving, polished, hard metal alloypiston forward through the strong,precisely machined barrel. Thelubricant is then forced through thehigh pressure hose into the giantbuttonhead lubrication i itt ing.

The Delta 1699-09 was originallydesigned and built for plug valvelubrication. The self-priming hydrau-lic hand gun has emerged, however, asan excellent lubricator also forinjecting both lubricant and sealantinto gate and ball valves

plus other equipment that requiresperiodic lubrication.

An important feature is a builfinrelief valve that protects the Delta1699-09 Hand Gun from damagewhen the supply of lubricant/sealant isunknowingly depleted; if the mainte-nance person continues the pumpingaction.

The 15,000 p.s.i. gauge, fumishedwith each 1699-09, is an aid indetermining the point where sufficientlubrication has been developed in thevalve. This one feature gives themaintenance person precise control oflubrication for each valve pluseconomical lubricant use.

Also furnished with each1699-09 is a giant buttonhead couplerwith adapter. The device fits ontostandard lubricant fittings and a l6-inch-long (20,000 p.s.i. burst) flexibleswivel hose that allows lubrication inthe tightest of valve manifold systems.

Other available accessories includea vent lubrication adapter withbuttonhead fitting and an adapter withhose.

Five easy steps to loading the Delta Hand Gun

A.Relieve pressureby opening bypassvalve one fulltum.

B.Unscrew handlefiom fulcrum oflubricator,placing the holedrilled in handleover theprotruding buttonon the sealantbarrel cap.

Rotate counterclockwise

D.Insert "J" sizestick of recom-mended Descolubricant / sealantfbr service

conditions.

E.Replace cap andhose assembly.Tighten with handleas in "B" above.

C.Using the handle,return plston tobottom of sealantbarrel and closeby-pass valvefirmly.
