Become a qualified Sponsor or spouse sponsor and learn the ins

and outs of sponsorship in Area IV. Qualified Sponsors are vital to

the successful reception of incoming Soldiers. To be an effective

sponsor, you must know what is expected of you and where to find

the information incoming Soldiers are likely to request. All this

information is provided monthly during Sponsorship Training at

Camp Henry ACS. Training is short, informative and open to all

active duty Soldiers and spouses.

needs on life, auto, personal property, and home.

Dakjongi Craft Class

This is a continuing class from November and participants will learn more tasks using

bleached Dakjongi to make a final project. Students will also choose and cut out a

moon-yang (Chinese letters or seals) that will be placed in certain locations on the

frame. The class is designed for students to experience the beautiful Korean art of Hanji

along with a brief explanation of the history.

The recipe exchange, held once a month in the ACS kitchen, serves as a way for military spouses to

come together and share food ideas either from what they have learned or from their culture.

Dishes are brought in by each spouse for everyone to sample and then the recipe on how to prepare

that particular dish is shared with everyone participating.

CDC Month of December

December is a time to celebrate families and traditions. The Child Development Center (CDC) will be celebrating with families on December 20th at 1030. We will be having our CDC Winter Program, followed by a family lunch. All CDC parents and family members are invited to join us. We will also be hosting our First Annual Gingerbread House Event on 20 Dec 2013. Children, families, individuals, groups and classrooms are welcome to submit a gingerbread house. The event will have judges, prizes and lots of great creations. There will be different categories to enter. This is not only for the kids, there will also be an adult category. Please submit your entries by 1800 on 16 December 2013. If you are interested in joining our event and want to enter your house please contact CDC for more information at 764-4834.

Child Development Center (CDC) still has opening for children from 6 weeks to Kindergarten, as well has hourly spots. December is an exciting month for School Age Care. We will be celebrating a winter wonderland with arts and crafts projects, cooking and games. Each week we will offer the children an opportunity to participate in exciting hands-on projects. In addition to our special activities and events, we offer: POWER HOUR Power Hour is a dedicated quiet time for children to work on homework together or independently. We also have staff who assist the students with their homework needs. This program is offered Monday-Thursday MOVIE MADNESS Is on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This is an opportunity for small groups of children to get together with their friends and watch a movie from our movie library. 4-H FRIDAY Fridays are dedicated to 4-H Clubs. Each SAC child is a member of a 4-H Club. This is a chance for our children to learn new skills, develop new interest and grow their leadership abilities. BOOK CLUB AND EXERCISE CLUB ARE GROWING It’s exciting to see these young folks taking initiative and joining these beneficial clubs. We have HOURLY CARE space available for families in need of occasional care. These slots fill fast especially over the Holidays; so if you need to reserve a space please do so quickly.

A career path is knocking at your door and it's time for you to see what's available. Fun, interactive, career and college prep workshops will also be offered throughout the apprenticeship. So, step up your game and make yourself more marketable! As a youth apprentice, students will walk away with new knowledge and enhanced skills in writing and customer service. Students can feel confident at the end of the program, ready to shine and impress future employers. The apprenticeship will definitely help students prepare for job and college applications, and life in general! HIRED! Terms The HIRED! Apprenticeship term consists of four, 12-week terms repeated annually. Participants 15 to 18 years of age are able to participate in a maximum of two terms per year for three consecutive years. Within each 12-week term, apprentices are expected to work 15 hours in a 7-day period while concurrently participating in HIRED! Workforce-Preparation and Secondary Education Exploration Workshops.
