6 Months KIBOR vs 6 Months T-Bills
The benchmark KSE-100 index decreased by 0.73% (-325.50 points) to closeat 44,262.35 points in April’21. Daily average trading volumes decreased by19.39% MoM to 354 Mn shares in April’21 from 439 Mn shares in March’21.Other Organization, Individuals, Broker Proprietary Trading and Mutual Fundswere net buyers of USD 21mn, USD 7mn, USD 5mn and USD 5mn,respectively. Foreign Investors, Companies, Banks and Insurance Companieswere net sellers of USD 17mn, USD 13mn, USD 4mn and USD 3mn,respectively.
Sectors that outperformed benchmark KSE-100 index were Fertilizer,Chemical and Commercial Banks yielding 1.7%, 1.7% and 1.4% returns,respectively. Cement, Automobile Assembler, Engineering, Oil & GasExploration Companies and Power Generation & Distributionunderperformed the benchmark index yielding -1.3%, -4.0%, -6.8%, -6.9% and-8.0% returns, respectively. Fertilizer sector outperformed benchmark indexdue to increased profitability on the back of high Urea sales and inventorygains on DAP. Chemical sector outperformed KSE-100 index due toconsistently high international margins. Power Generation & Distributionsector underperformed benchmark index primarily due to delay in paymentby Government of Pakistan to Independent Power Producers as part ofagreement sought to clear Rs. 450 billion outstanding dues of power sector.
Currently, the market is trading at a P.E multiple of 7.0x and has a dividendyield of 6.0%.
The CPI inflation increased by 11.1% YoY for the month of April’21 on newbase of 2015-16. While on a monthly basis, CPI increased by 1.0% MoM. Theincrease in CPI was mainly attributable to rise in prices of Perishable & Non-Perishable Food, Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas, Fuel, Clothing andFootwear related items.
Additionally, M2 experienced an increase of 6.18% during July 01, 2020 toApril 23, 2021 as compared to an increase of 8.21% during the previouscorresponding period. The latest report shows that government matured Rs.1,565 billion to SBP, as compared to maturities of Rs. 736 billion incorresponding period last year, whereas, government borrowed Rs. 1,792billion from scheduled banks as compared to borrowings of Rs. 1,737 billionin corresponding period last year.
The Central Bank raised an amount of Rs. 1,550 billion under the two T-billauction conducted during the month. The weighted average yields underthe latest auction stood at 7.38% for 3 months T-bills, 7.65% for 6 months T-bills and bids were rejected for 12 months T-bills. During April’21, the 6months KIBOR (offer) decreased by 24 bps to 7.64% compared to previousmonth and averaged at 7.77%.

The benchmark KSE-100 index decreased by 0.73% (-325.50 points) to closeat 44,262.35 points in April’21. Daily average trading volumes decreased by19.39% MoM to 354 Mn shares in April’21 from 439 Mn shares in March’21.Other Organization, Individuals, Broker Proprietary Trading and Mutual Fundswere net buyers of USD 21mn, USD 7mn, USD 5mn and USD 5mn,respectively. The management company, as a matter of prudence and asrecommended by MUFAP, made provision in respect of SWWF witheffect from the date of enactment of the SWWF Act, 2014 (i.e. startingfrom 21 May 2015) on 12 January 2017. Accordingly, the provision forSWWF is being made on a daily basis going forward. Up till April 30,2021, a sum of Rs. 86,453,341 (Rs. 2.58 per unit) has been provided forSWWF.

The Finance Act, 2013 imposed Federal Excise Duty (FED) on financialservices to include Asset Management Companies (AMC’s) with effectfrom 13th June, 2013. On September 04, 2013 a constitutional petitionhas been filed in Sindh High Court (SHC) jointly by various AMC`s,challenging the levy of FED. In a separate petition the Honorable SindhHigh Court declared that the FED was unconstitutional and cannot becharged where provinces are collecting sales tax. The Federation hasfiled an appeal in the Honorable Supreme Court of Pakistan Further, viaFinance Act 2016, the FED has been withdrawn from July 1, 2016. In themeantime, as a matter of abundant caution, the Scheme has heldprovision for FED liability which amounted to Rs.20,428,502 up till June 30,2016. (Rs.0.61 per unit as on April 30, 2021)

The Finance Act, 2013 imposed Federal Excise Duty (FED) on financialservices to include Asset Management Companies (AMC’s) witheffect from 13th June, 2013. On September 04, 2013 a constitutionalpetition has been filed in Sindh High Court (SHC) jointly by variousAMC`s, challenging the levy of FED. In a separate petition theHonorable Sindh High Court declared that the FED wasunconstitutional and cannot be charged where provinces arecollecting sales tax. The Federation has filed an appeal in theHonorable Supreme Court of Pakistan Further, via Finance Act 2016,the FED has been withdrawn from July 1, 2016. In the meantime, as amatter of abundant caution, the Scheme has held provision for FEDliability which amounted to Rs.23,582,971 up till June 30, 2016. (Rs.2.57per unit as on April 30, 2021)

The Finance Act, 2013 imposed Federal Excise Duty (FED) on financialservices to include Asset Management Companies (AMC’s) with effectfrom 13th June, 2013. On September 04, 2013 a constitutional petitionhas been filed in Sindh High Court (SHC) jointly by various AMC`s,challenging the levy of FED. In a separate petition the HonorableSindh High Court declared that the FED was unconstitutional andcannot be charged where provinces are collecting sales tax. TheFederation has filed an appeal in the Honorable Supreme Court ofPakistan Further, via Finance Act 2016, the FED has been withdrawnfrom July 1, 2016. In the meantime, as a matter of abundant caution,the Scheme has held provision for FED liability which amounted toRs.10,453,385 up till June 30, 2016. (Rs.2.49 per unit as on April 30, 2021)
The management company, as a matter of prudence and asrecommended by MUFAP, made provision in respect of SWWF witheffect from the date of enactment of the SWWF Act, 2014 (i.e. startingfrom 21 May 2015) on 12 January 2017. Accordingly, the provision forSWWF is being made on a daily basis going forward. Up till April 30,2021, a sum of Rs. 30,330,823 (Rs. 7.21 per unit) has been provided forSWWF.

Atlas Pension Fund Allocation Schemes
The Finance Act, 2013 imposed FED on AMC. On September 04, 2013 aconstitutional petition has been filed in Sindh High Court (SHC) jointly byvarious AMC`s, challenging the levy of FED. In a separate petition theHonorable Sindh High Court declared that the FED was unconstitutional andcannot be charged where provinces are collecting sales tax. TheFederation has filed an appeal in the Honorable Supreme Court of Pakistan.Meanwhile in Federal Budget 2016, the FED has been withdrawn from July 1,2016 .In the meantime, as a matter of abundant caution, The Scheme hasheld provision for FED liability which amounted to (ESF) Rs.1,523,347, (DSF)Rs.1,124,175, (MSF) Rs.706,273 up till June 30, 2016 which is Rs.1.62, Rs.0.84,Rs.0.38 per unit respectively as on April 30, 2021
The management company, as a matter of prudence and asrecommended by MUFAP, made provision in respect of SWWF with effectfrom the date of enactment of the SWWF Act, 2014 (i.e. starting from 21 May2015) on 12 January 2017. Accordingly, the provision for SWWF is being madeon a daily basis going forward. Up till April 30, 2021, a sum of Rs. 6,795,544(Rs. 7.22 per unit) (ESF), Rs. 3,671,230 (Rs. 2.75 per unit) (DSF) and Rs. 2,741,994(Rs. 1.48 per unit) (MSF) has been provided for SWWF.
