HOW MUCH IS A MILLION? is a new CD-ROM based on the best selling children’s book by David M. Schwartz and illustrated by Steven Kellogg. This robust program offers twelve activities each designed to challenge children from seven to twelve. Basic fundamental math concepts from counting through addition, subtraction, multiplication and division are presented in a language based real-world context. Number Sense, Place Value, Comparison of Numbers and Estimation are taught through the “Discovery Method” allowing students to learn by exploring. With imagination as their guide students select activities which are designed to challenge them at their own level of math awareness and enable them to build on their skills. The sense of number is initially determined from the student’s own body. Their sense of awe surrounding numbers in the millions is acknowledged and utilized. The CD-ROM also includes a reading section to allow students to enjoy the complete book and enable them to work with reading activities. Similar to the award winning MATH AND READING BONUS PACK from Compu-Teach, this program allows students to move easily between reading and math activities reinforcing their relationship.
