South Korea: “In our opinion, we should take a closer look at the

distribution and trade of natural resources. This topic should be of special concern to all countries.”

USA: “Natural resources and the use of those resources are, in terms of peacebuilding, very important. We therefore think it is necessary to address this topic

and focus on long term solutions”

United Kingdom: “I’m proud to present the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland for the third time. Attending the HiMUN project

has been a great experience and opportunity to discuss relevant and up-to-date political issues with motivated

young delegates.”

Rwanda: “By attenting discussions in HiMUN 2014 we want to

gain better collaboration and teamwork within the UN Security Council to help countries affected by

crisis to recover.”

Chile

China: “Countries should show more political will and focus

on their responsibilities when it comes to natural resources and the environment in the process from

conflict to peacebuilding. We , the PRC, are trying to give our best in supporting governments affected by

conflicts caused by resource shortage or distribution.”

Lithuania: “It is known that natural resources are the cause of many conflicts but they should also be utilized in post-conflict situations to help support UN peacebuilding efforts and

reach stability. For this we need to be working on long term solutions on a global level. Also the change from nuclear

power to renewable energies should be a high priority.”

Nigeria: “The main focus of the Nigerian government is to build up a more humane and productive society in

which every citizen is valued. We are deeply concerned about environmental problems such as

leaks at oil pipelines in the Niger Delta, and ready to

support other countries in finding solutions as well.”

Argentina: “We are proud to participate in this year’s HiMUN session. Regarding the transition from conflict to peacebuilding, we would like to emphasize the

importance of managing high value resources by strengthening institutions and resource governance.”

Saudi-Arabia: “We, the delegates of Saudi Arabia, are

willing to cooperate with the other members of the UN and look forward to

find a good solution.”

Russia: “High-value resource management is the key

instrument for peace and development in post-conflict countries with natural resources.”

Australia: “We are a leading trade nation for natural resources

committed to a strong economy and trade liberalization. We are willing to give financial aid to those countries in need, in order to support their

development and to stabilize their economies which

will help preventing worldwide conflicts.”

France: “Proud and honored to once again represent the

French Republic in the HiMUN simulation we were looking forward to good negotiations, a closer insight

into the work of the UN Security Council and the possibilities to learn about the link between conflicts,

natural resources and the path to peacebuilding.”
