Flux Projects: Call for ProjectsFebruary 15 – March 2, 2010
Deadline to submit: Sunday, January 31, 2010
Overview:
Flux Projects has secured a space at Lenox Square for two weeks, February 15 – March 2, during whichwe hope to present one to three public art projects. (Images of the site are attached.) Over an averageweekend, Lenox attracts 105,000 people per day, so the exposure to the public is tremendous. Having a project stand out in the visual density of the mall will be more challenging, and we look forward to seeingwhat you propose!
Proposed projects can be:
– Visual or performance – New or re-presented works, including those from Le Flash 2008 & 2009
– From one day up to one week in duration
Budget:
The $500 budget is all-inclusive per project, covering design, construction and/or fabrication,transportation, delivery, lighting (if applicable), insurance, installation and de-installation.
Requirements:
– Artists must be available to install their work. – Works must be installed while the mall is closed, either after 6 p.m. on Sunday, February 14, or
before 9:30 a.m. on Monday, February 15. – Projects must consider public safety in a high traffic area. – Artists must be willing to work with Flux Projects staff if adjustments are required to
appropriately fit the space or respond to Lenox Square management concerns. – Any questions should be addressed to Flux Projects, not to Lenox Square.
Site limitations:
– Mall guests must be able to access the stairs (see attached image). – Visibility across the mall must not be obstructed. Obstacles can be no taller than 6’6”, and these
can only be 3’ wide. Lower items can be larger. – Projectors and other equipment cannot be hung from the ceiling, banisters, columns, or railings – The space is on a small incline (toward the stairs)
To Submit:
E-mail proposals to [email protected] must be received by midnight, Sunday, January 31.
Submissions must include:
– Name and contact information, including address, telephone number, e-mail, and website – Title and concept of the proposed work, including how the project will be experienced by the
mall shoppers (Word or pdf format) – Current resume (Word or pdf format)

– Up to ten digital images (jpg) and/or three audio or video samples of your work or the proposed project. Include a short description of each image that includes title of the work, medium, date,dimensions, and location of installation.
Place your documents, photos, and videos in a folder, and create a zip archive file.Please name the file like this:
lastname_firstname.zip

Selection Criteria:
– Artistic merit – Appropriateness for the site – Feasibility of construction – Accessibility to a public audience – Public safety/welfare – Projects need not reference Flux Projects, though we do have an interest in projects that can help
launch our name
Notification:
Selected artists will be notified on Tuesday, February 2.
Flux Projects retains the right to photograph or videotape work completed as part of this project for publicity, grant writing, and promotional purposes. Your entry constitutes understanding and agreement with the conditions outlined in this request for proposals.
