■ Chemically inert; low permeability

■ Manufactured from FDA-sanctioned ingredients for usewith food contact surfaces

■ Lowest coefficient of friction of any solid material

■ Widest service temperature of any plastic tubing (-275°F to 500°F)

■ Excellent electrical and weathering properties; non-flammable

■ Made without plasticizer which can leach into critical streams

■ Ultra-high-purity grades available for the semiconductor industry

Notes

Almost totally inert, FLUOROPOLYMERtubing can be used with virtually allindustrial solvents, chemicals, and corrosivematerials, even at elevated temperatures. Itdoes, however, react with fluorine, moltensodium hydroxide, and molten alkali metals.

FLUOROPOLYMER tubing can be steamor chemically sterilized in-line with anyindustrial cleaner, solvent, or sterilizingmethod.

FLUOROPOLYMER’s non-stick propertyallows transport of viscous, sticky materialswithout line clogging. It also offersoutstanding aging resistance.

PTFE’s translucent white color will varynaturally from lot to lot, however the qualityand physical properties do not change. FEPand PFA are clearer and can be heat sealedand heat bonded.

Permanent color striping, etching, andlonger-than-listed lengths are availablethrough minimum order. Polyethylene-jacketed, thin-wall fluoropolymer tubing, forlow-cost purity, is also available throughminimum order — call for details.

What’s the difference?

PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) a fluorocarbon-based polymer, is a resinsupplied in powdered form, which is mixed, preformed, and extruded into apaste, and then finally tubing. PTFE tubing can be used in a large variety ofapplications due to its high chemical resistance, high and low temperaturecapability, resistance to weathering, electrical and thermal insulation, andlowest coefficient of friction of any solid material. The tubing is translucentwhite in color.

FEP (Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene) resin is pelletized for its hot-meltextrusion process. FEP tubing is known for its gas and vapor permeabilityproperties and excellent UV transmission ratings. While very similar incomposition to PTFE, there are a few notable differences. FEP has a lower heatshrink temperature and is clearer and more flexible than PTFE.

PFA (Perfluoroalkoxy) resin, like FEP, belongs to a class of melt-processiblefluoroplastics. PFA tubing is also known for its gas and vapor permeabilityproperties and excellent UV transmission ratings. It is similar in composition toFEP but has better heat resistance and a smoother surface. It, too, is clearer andmore flexible than PTFE.

■ High dielectric strength — 500 Volts/mil

■ Excellent volume resistivity — 1018 OHM-CM H2

■ Unaffected by thermal aging at 400°F

■ Non-flammable and practically smokeless when incinerated

■ Widest service temperature available (-275°F to 500°F)

Meets Specifications:MIL-I-22129C, ASTM D-3295-81A, AMS 3653C, AMS 3654, AMS 3655

Notes

Outstanding chemical andtemperature resistance, coupledwith fluoropolymer’s lowcoefficient of friction, makesAWG & FRACTIONAL PTFE tubingan excellent choice on primaryconductors as protection fromchemical contact or temperatureextremes.

AWG & FRACTIONAL PTFEtubing resists melt-off bysoldering irons when makingelectrical terminations, especiallyin close-quarter installations.

The product’s outstandingthermal properties offercontinuous use from cryogenictemperatures up to 500°F. It isalso non-aging, so brittleness iseliminated.

PTFE is translucent white incolor, however, the degree ofwhiteness will naturally varyfrom lot to lot. This color variancehas no bearing on the material’squality or physical properties.

Coiltef ™

C o i l e d F E P T u b i n g

Notes

Almost totally inert, COILTEF can be used withall industrial solvents, chemicals, and corrosivematerials even at elevated temperatures. It does, however, react with fluorine, molten sodiumhydroxide, and molten alkali metals.

Fluoropolymer’s non-stick property allowstransport of viscous, sticky material without lineclogging. It also offers outstanding agingresistance.

COILTEF is manufactured through afabrication process which heat sets the coils. Thecoils should remain stable up to 200°F. At highertemperatures the coils will begin to relax and losetheir set. If the application involves elevatedtemperatures, in-house testing is recommended.

COILTEF may be steam or chemically sterilizedin-line with any industrial cleaner, solvent, orsterilizing method. Care should be taken withsteam sterilization to prevent coil relaxation.Testing is recommended.

COILTEF can be manufactured from .085" to1/2" tubing I.D. The coil diameter can beproduced from 3/4" O.D. to 4" O.D.

PFA-formulated COILTEF is also available byspecial order.

■ Made from FEP fluoropolymer tubing

■ Corrugations allow a nearly zero bend radius — easily flexed

■ Can be extended or compressed without affecting the tube’s I.D.

■ Made from FDA-sanctioned ingredients

■ Made without plasticizers which can leach into critical streams

■ Has all the chemical and electrical properties ofstraight-walled FEP tubing

■ May be overbraided with Kevlar® for higher pressures^

Notes

Vacuum Service: 29.9 in./Hg.Bend Diameter: 1/2 of tubing I.D.

Optimal flow is achieved and turbulenceminimized by passing fluids through CORRTEF inthe direction of the corrugation angles (asillustrated).

CORRTEF is heat sealable, and the cuffs(straight ends) are made to accept standardbarbed fittings. The end may be flared orexpanded to permit shrink-tight connections.

CORRTEF is manufactured in an industrialatmosphere and should be properly sterilized forclean-flow applications. For optimal cleaning ofCORRTEF, the tube should be stretched to itsmaximum length and held vertically (direction offlow: down). Due to the annular corrugations, itmay not be possible to remove all traces ofparticulate from CORRTEF, even under optimalcleaning conditions.

^Overbraiding with Kevlar will permit aminimum increase of six times the listed pressures.Kevlar overbraiding is available for sizes up to7/8” I.D. – call for details.

■ White PTFE inner core is made from non-toxic ingredients conformingto FDA standards

■ Black core is electrically conductive to release or eliminate static charge

■ Core material is inert; will not impart taste or odor orcontaminate the stream

■ Wide service temperature range (-65°F to 450°F)

■ Excellent weathering properties; non-flammable

■ Non-stick surface is easily cleaned by autoclaving, steam,or detergent

■ Series 300 stainless steel overbraid provides for high pressuresand protection of the core

■ Meets or exceeds SAE 100R14 specifications for size and pressure

OVERBRAIDED PTFE HOSE is constructed ofextruded virgin PTFE material with a 300stainless steel wire braid reinforcementjacket. The core is inert and offers longflexural life, low permeability, non-flammability, and the lowest coefficient offriction of any solid material.

The overbraid permits higher pressureuses, reduces the possibility of kinking, andgenerally protects the core.

Black conductive core hose works well inapplications where static charge must bedissipated, such as those involving highresistivity fluids or gases at high velocity.

Flush cleaning of the hose to eliminatemanufacturing residue is recommendedprior to use.
