Benefits:

• Extended sump life through bio-stability

• Improved surface finish

• Reduced tool wear

• Improved operated environment

Boron and Biocide Free Soluble Cutting Fluids

Boric acid is listed as a Substance with Very High Concern (SVHC). Formaldehyde will be reclassified this year, and regarding the biocide directive, there are already concerns for the future of formaldehyde.

Used as additives to control the growth of Bacteria and Fungus, Boron and Formaldehyde have been important components within metalworking fluids. Therefore when deciding to opt for biocide free, it is important that no performance is sacrificed.

Castrol Alusol products have been designed using the latest technology to maintain the bio-stability and cutting performance of even the best metalworking fluids.

The benefits from using the correct and best quality lubricant on a machine are invaluable. Although cost can initially be slightly more expensive, the long term benefits and savings will soon outweigh this.

Machine lubrication can serve two purposes, although many people only really consider one – enabling the equipment to carry out its duties as required. However, using a good quality lubricant will serve a second purpose; to increase the longevity of a machine and save you money in the process.

Tests in 6 EU countries, have confirmed the key improvements.

Within the Alusol range, there are Boron free products which offer a solution, whilst maintaining the exceptional performance you expect from a Castrol product.

Save money with Lubrication

The benefits of machine lubrication, with a good quality lubricant will;

• Reduce wear and tear on the machinery and parts

• Reduce costs of replacement components

• Reduce costly downtime on the production line replacing worn parts

• Increase productivity on the production line and reduce costly downtime from failures on the production line

• Lubricant changes required less frequently;

• reducing unproductive production line downtime

• negating the personnel requirement to carry out the procedure

• less oil changes = less oil being consumed

Speak to one of our Technical Sales Engineers today and find out how switching to Castrol could make you savings on your production line.

GHS refers to the United Nations (UN) Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals. It will harmonize the different laws in countries throughout the world and will introduce new pictograms, hazard determination and safety information.

The classification of a product may change i.e. from non-hazardous to hazardous or vice versa, this is not due to a reformulation but due to new criteria in the GHS regulation.

What is GHS?

Although the rules require changes in Europe, US and Brazil, Castrol are applying the changes globally on a rolling basis, ensuring our customers can operate in line with the latest safety & compliance standards.

Q: The label looks more hazardous now - has anything changed? A: No. The GHS system of classification, hazard and precautionary statements is designed to give you more information about the products that you are using. Under GHS some products are now labelled more hazardous, however equally it is true that some are now labelled less hazardous.

Q: Do I need to handle these products differently? A: The handling of the products must follow the guidance provided within the updated SDS. In some cases this will be different, but in most cases this will be the same.

Q: Are product formulations changing? A: No. While you may see some changes to one or more of the SDS, label, product brand or product name, the product you use and trust will remain unchanged. Should any changes to the formulation occur for any related or unrelated reason you will be informed in the usual manner.

Q: Are approvals affected? A: No. Castrol is checking every approval currently in place to ensure that the approval is unaffected as a result of changes to one or more of the SDS, label, product brand or product name. We will take any required actions to maintain existing approvals.

The orange hazard warning symbols used under current legislation will be superseded by a series of 9 GHS pictograms within a red diamond. Manufacturers of products must change the pictograms and hazard statements by the country deadline. Until that date, a transitional period is in operation with both systems recognised, this is to allow a gradual change to the new GHS requirements.

• Labels & SDS’s will also include standardised hazard statements, which are phrases and alpha numerical codes to convey advice regarding handling.

We will be talking to customers over the next few months to convert products from BP to the Castrol branded version.

All previous BP grades which have been discontinued are all still listed on our website. There will either be a direct equivalent given or the next

best alternative provided. If you have any product queries then please contact our sales team on - 03300 555655.

BP Products ConsolidationPrior to the BP takeover of Castrol, they sold a full range of lubricants into the UK market. There has been a gradual process of BP products being discontinued to be replaced by Castrol products with identical formulations. The latest product rationalisation will see the deletion of the remaining BP products still being sold in the UK.
