Hello Sycamore, Magnolia and Laurel classes,

You have now completed:

Entry Point Knowledge harvest Nature Diary Nature Walk

Many of you will have also completed the worksheets that you were given in your home learning packs. These were:

Activity 1

Use a dictionary or the internet to find the meaning of these words and write them down:

Habitat Environment Adaptation Evolution Camouflage

Then watch these clips about how different animals are adapted to their environment.

Activity 2

Choose an animal and think about their habitat and how they are adapted to their environment.

Can you draw a design of their habitat and what you would include in it? Try to label your diagram to explain why you have included particular things.

Finally using junk materials from around your home (shoe boxes, cereal boxes, toilet rolls, cotton wool, yoghurt cartons, play dough) try to make a model of the habitat. See the pictures above for ideas! Be as creative as you can!

We teachers would love to see any work you’ve done so it would be great to take a picture of anything you enjoyed or are proud of and send it to [email protected] with your name and class.

Then complete the attached activities:

Activity 3A- Sort the animals correctly using the Carroll diagram

Activity 3B - Classify animals in the pictures using the tables.

Activity 3C – Classify the animals using the key

If you don’t have printouts just draw or write the names of the animals.

Challenge: If you’re feeling really confident have a go at creating your own key to classify animals!
