Thursday Tour Thursday, July 26

9:15 am to 4:30 pm

On Thursday before the Convention begins, we will have our annual adventure tour of the area. A great day of Quad Cities sight-seeing has been planned to entertain you. We will meet in the hotel lobby and depart on a charter bus at 9:15 am. Our first stop will be the John Deere Harvester Plant. Members will board a chain of open cars driven by a John Deere vehicle. Factory tour guides will take us through each stage of the manufacturing process, explaining how all the pieces come together to create these massive green machines.

Next, we will receive a guided tour of the Deere-Wiman House and Butterworth Center. This pair of charming mansions built in 1872 and 1892 were home to several generations of John Deere’s ancestors. They are renowned for their beauty & impeccable landscaping. We will complete our day at the John Deere Pavilion. See the biggest display of Deere equipment & technology in the world and get a glimpse of the innovative machines that will be working the fields and construction sites of the future. Climb aboard the machines, take control of a dozer or excavator. Take photos. Enjoy the fabulous gift shop! The bus will return to our hotel by 4:30 pm. The fee for the entire day is $55 which includes entrance fees, bus, lunch and all taxes and gratuities. Please join us for a fun-filled adventure as we enjoy “The Quad Cities: 4x the Fun”. Location: Meet in the North Tower Lobby (back of the hotel exit area). Hosted by: Christine & Peter Waller

For lunch, we will have a relaxing luncheon buffet aboard the Celebration Belle Riverboat and enjoy a narrated tour of the sights of the Upper Mississippi River.

Pilgrimage to the Staffordshire Potteries: Where Our Flow Blue Began

Friday, July 27 9:30 to 10:30 am

In October of 2017, a group of FBICC members went on a dream journey to England to visit the Staffordshire Potteries District. This is a multi-speaker presentation recounting the highlights of that trip and the memorable moments that made it so special. Location: Salon B Presented by: David Crumb and John Provine

Table Collections: “Show Me Your Fours”

Friday, July 27 10:45 am to 11:30 am

Everyone has 4 of something in our club! It is always fun seeing what others bring to their collections. In keeping with our convention theme, consider bringing a “Set of 4”. A display need not be identical. It can be related to function, pattern, color, size, etc. It can be as simple as four cups and saucers or more extensive as graduated pitchers or platters. Many members choose to stay with their display and answer questions about the items and the collecting category. It is a quality time of sharing and learning. Guidelines

• Any club member may participate in this event. Mark the “Table Collections” line on the registration form if you plan to participate.

• This event will be held concurrently with Tops & Bottoms and Bluetique.

• Set up will be on Friday, July 27, from 7:00 am to 8:00 am in the Riviera Room.

• Each table will be skirted. The collection does not need to take the entire space. If you need only half a table, please indicate it on the registration form.

• Participants must break down their displays immediately following the event.

• Contact John and Laurel Provine with any questions at [email protected] or 580-551-9792. Location: Riviera Room Hosted by: John & Laurel Provine

Tops & Bottoms Friday, July 27

10:45 am to 11:30 am Looking for the under tray to your Normandy gravy boat? Need a lid for your Oriental sauce tureen? Still wondering if you’re ever going to be able to complete your LaBelle wash set because you’ve never been able to locate the drainer for the soap dish? At Tops & Bottoms, you just may find the elusive object of your search! Please bring those lonely flow blue and mulberry “tops” and “bottoms” to this event for consignment sale to other members. This event will be held concurrently with the Bluetique and Table Collections: “Show Me Your Fours.” Guidelines:

• Any club member may participate as a seller at this event.

• All items offered for sale must be flow blue or mulberry china. No reproduction flow blue or mulberry is allowed at any sales event.

• Indicate on the convention registration form the number of items you plan to consign.

• The FBICC will sell the consigned tops and bottoms at this event and will receive a 10% commission. There is no fee for an item that does not sell. The FBICC will issue a check to the consignor within 10 days of the end of the convention.

• A consignment sheet will be mailed to you once your completed registration form is received. Alternatively, you can download the consignment sheet from the club website, www.flowblue.org. Be sure to put your name, address, and phone number at the top of the sheet. Prices do not need to be indicated on this list.

• All consigned items must be accompanied by the list of the pieces being consigned.

• All items must have the consignor’s name and the price firmly affixed to the piece. There will be no discounting of prices, so mark the item with your best price.

• Check-in of items will be from 7:00 am to 8:00 am on Friday, July 27, in the Riviera Room. Please return to pick up any unsold pieces promptly at 11:30 am.

• For buyers, only checks will be accepted. No cash. Location: Riviera Room Hosted by: David Crumb, Heather Hearn, Ralph Escudero; for questions contact David Crumb at 585 392-5848 or [email protected]

Bluetique Friday, July 27

10:45 am to 11:30 am The Bluetique offers the opportunity to sell and buy beautiful flow blue and mulberry-related wares, such as finely-crafted jewelry fashioned from flow blue shards, lamps, table linens, and more. Any FBICC member may participate as a seller at this event. This event will be held concurrently with the Table Collections and Tops & Bottoms.

8

Bluetique (continued from page 7)

Guidelines:

• Any club member may participate as a seller at this event. Participants must sell their own items.

• No reproduction flow blue or mulberry is allowed at any sales event.

• The colors of blue and mulberry alone do not render an item suitable for this sales event.

• Table locations will be assigned. Participants may not select their own location.

• The table dimensions are 30 inches by 8 feet. Each table will be skirted. The cost for one table is $30. Indicate the number of tables on the convention registration form.

• A table may be shared with another seller. Each seller must pay $15 per half-table. You must designate your co-seller on the registration form.

• Set up will be from 7:00 am to 8:00 am on Friday, July 27, in the Riviera Room.

Rare & Unusual Flow Blue & Mulberry

Saturday, July 28 10:00 am to 11:30 am

By popular demand, the “usual” Rare and Unusual seminar returns. Look through your collection, pick out one, two, three, or more special pieces and bring them to the convention to share with fellow attendees. Simply check the “Rare and Unusual” line on the registration form, and we will be delighted to include you in the seminar. It’s a great way to not only show off your “finds” but also let other members know what you collect and what you are seeking. Your items will be projected on a screen while you describe the rare attributes and/or the unusual story of finding them. Too shy to get up in front of the group and speak? No problem. Just bring your items and we will be happy to describe them for you. Please send a description of the item you plan to bring to this seminar to Warren Macy no later than June 23, 2018, at [email protected] or notify Warren at 765-653-9341.
