Background

• MPOs, recognized the value of improved coordination across MPO boundaries

• But wanted to maintain autonomy for a variety of reasons

• So, MPOs formed formal alliances of two or more MPOs working together on issues of joint interest

• 22 of Florida’s 26 MPOs have entered into formal arrangements to coordinate regional transportation planning activities with one or more neighboring MPOs

• Resulting in:• Regional planning activities

and studies• Support and programming

for larger projects important to multiple MPO areas
