PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Dearest MG and British enthusiast:
Hoping you all are enjoying the beautiful driving weather that we have been having.
McKee Gardens was a more than lovely event. Congratulations to Dale & Marilyn Lewis,
Ken & Deanna Deleeuw, and Paul & Judy Stedman who were invited to display their cars.
This is a yearly event for the club. The drive was wonderful along A1A. Lunch at the
Filling Stations was a little busy, but the food was great!

Thank you to Sharon and John Spadaro and those of you who headed to North Meets South
event. I was unable to attend due to work, but my thoughts were with you all. I’m sure it
was another great event. This is the perfect time of year to enjoy our LBC’s before it heats
up to high Florida temperatures.
North Meets South! FL British Car Clubs welcome VA MG “T” car owners arriving
for their winter Florida tour! (View all photos on MG Car Club--Florida)

Florida taking place on Easter Saturday each year at the beautiful Carlin Park in Jupiter. Since our first
show in 2007, we have continued to grow to where now we can expect more than 250 British and
European Classics every year. Wheels Across The Pond is free to spectator admission and our show raises
money each year a Jupiter-based no-kill animal rescue center, the Busch Wildlife Sanctuary.
Interesting Articles and Information
If you find an article you would like to share with the club or have a story to tell, please email me
([email protected]) and I will include it in the newsletter!
TECH TIP!
Checking for BONDO??
One of the most frustrating things restorers have to face is the ‘surprise’ hidden under a fresh coat of paint. You
go out looking for a reasonably rust-free project car and the seller tells you that only thin films of body filler
have been spread (…over properly welded patches of course).
You buy the car, take it home and strip away all the paint only to find old rust areas that were improperly
repaired and a thick layer of body filler hiding everything. That means you will have to repair it correctly and it
also means you paid too much for the car.
Next time you go out looking, leave the magnet at home. Magnets don’t really tell you there’s a thick layer of
filler unless there’s no metal behind it. Instead, grab that Stud Sensor out of the toolbox. Stud Sensors are
densitometers. They detect changes in density of materials, so if you slide one over a bad Bondo job, its little
lights will tell you there’s something amiss. You might still want the car, but at least you won’t pay too much.
Sincerely, Secondchancegarage.com / From Brits ‘n Pieces, Volume 20 No.12
